I’m at the pub watching it yet again, I believe they looked at the touchie and thought it was Staggs, only possible reason

It’s the worst refereed sport in the world in my opinion. In a game where in most cases there’s only about 30 calls made by a referee, it’s shocking how many of them are wrong. Especially with the bunker. The media should be all over it and broncos should be making formal complaints about the stopping the clock for the drop out before half time, the inconsistency with high tackle sin bins, the Staggs no try and the poor positioning by the referee on the Smoothy one. Atkins 100% should be sitting out next weekend for what can only be described as one of the worst refereeing performances of all time.

That drop out situation was bizarre. It was on the big screen and the game clock was clearly 2 second ahead of the shot clock - so the whistle should have been blown for half time with 2 seconds remaining on the drop out clock. Nothing like hiding your incompetence in plain sight.

Except 10 seconds were wasted on the reset as Brisbane was supposed to be on the goal line. So 10 seconds should’ve been added back to time.

In effect the roosters got robbed 10 seconds and should’ve had 12 seconds from the drop out

What do you mean? I was there. The drop out clock started as soon as they called dropout and had 2 seconds less on normal clock than the shot clock.

The ref was claiming some garbage of "game circumstances" or something... which I have literally never heard of in relation to a drop out.

I'm pretty sure Reynolds was fuming about it as well.

Atkins was claiming some bullshit about you're not moving for the drop out so I will call time off for game circumstances, but they don't need to be lining up for shit when they have a shot clock for the drop out and teams always let it run down.

They just need to complete the drop out before the clock ticks down.

Nah you are wrong. I was at the ground and when the ball went over the dead ball line there was 28 seconds left on the clock, should never had been a drop out.

Do you work to a level of effort where you are fatigued ?
Do you have 26 work mates who are constantly making mistakes you have to make judgements on ? Do those work mates try to lie to you when they make a mistake .

Yep those bunker officials are sweating their butts off in their airconned room.

Now imagine that referee performance against the roosters?

The amount of media anguish and faux outrage would have him reffing under 12s

I'm actually glad we don't generate that media outrage about ref decisions. You don't want your players to excuse losses to things they think are outside their control, which I think is what Kevvie's philosophy is (you win some calls, and you lose others, but if you're good enough, you take the ref/luck out of it).

The teams this year with coaches whinging about the ref all the time, also don't seem to be doing that great: Roosters, Raiders, South's, etc. Whinging and making excuses in not a great long term strategy to build a better team. Only time Kevvie really complained was after that Storm game, which was completely justified.

P.S. we should also not be blind to the fact that we also get some questionable calls go our way sometimes too.
