I asked Griffin who will be the 5/8 when I was at fan day. He only came up with 2 options, either Kahu or Strasser.

Time will tell as to whether he was lying or not.

we've all known since the end of last season that if we didn't get Milford for the upcoming season it would be either Kahu or Strasser.

I expect them both to get plenty of game time during the trials, with the best performer getting the gig for round 1

I'd be willing to bet even Griffin had no idea he would be using Kahu at 6 at the end of last season.
Sucks to be Griffin, career on the line and hinged on a guy who has been solid at best in NRL and being first choice in a key position for the first time since school.

I'm quite flabbergasted that they didn't have a plan for 5/8 before sacking Wallace. I was sure at the time that meant Milford was as good as signed for 2014.

Prince and Hunt was starting to work in the last few games. I wouldn't have complained about another year from him in light of the current options we've been left with.

I like how we've been improving our squad and building a team of players who we can lay our plans on but this year we have to play an untested five-eighth, an inexperienced halfback and a one-dimensional hooker.

Norman left for the money pure and simple. It makes a nice story for the journos that buying prince 'forced him out', but it was clear to everyone that prince had one foot in retirement so if he thought he was being held back long term them he's dumber than he looks

So much can happen that it's probably easier just not to guess right now. Like I think there's a decent chance of Ben Hunt not becoming a superstar, like many believe. Possibly not even good enough to keep. So who knows.

I thought he kinda surprised them by sticking to his plan of retiring at the end of 2013.

although i do look forward to seeing an untested young half have a go this year i cant see us challenging the top few teams just yet. barba will add some strike power but 2015 with milford and barba will be our best chance we have had in a while. i cant see to many teams being able to defend those two in the same team while also having to worry about hodges on the edge with hopefully a fully recovered yow yeh with a year under his belt. especially if we somehow manage to keep hoffman on the other side we should have plenty of strike power. no doubt with those guys we should have a fairly good chance at winning the 9's comp in 2015 if nothing else

At what price though? On his performance, he was probably going to be lucky to get a 2 year $200k p/a contract, in the hope he develops. That's a big shortfall, too big for the heartless bum to cop IMO.

I reckon money would not have come into it really and true 2013 not his year but who can blame him, 2012 he showed true talent for someone as young as he is, and this coming from a person who never rated Norman so high like most did at the start, no one was ever going to to replace the greatest player of all time in Lockyer successfully
Just think its ironic, if he didn't sign with parramatta he would have gotten what he wanted all along

I think you're right ....although looking back, you'd say they would have told him that thinking they would have Milford.

Either way,

banking on a "maybe" at the time, is pretty piss poor management.
