13. McGuire / Arrow

14. Ese'ese / Ofahengaue / sims ( sims need to find is feet first)
15. Pangai Jr
16. Thaiday ( recovery from injury )
17. Marshall / Nikorima

From what I've seen Opacic has looked quite good on the wing, does he necessarily have to be a centre?

Barring injury (which is inevitable), the Rd 1 lineup may look like this:

1 Boyd
2 Oates
3 Kahu
4 Roberts
5 Pearson
6 Milford
7 Hunt
8 McGuire
9 McCullough
10 Blair
11 Gillett
12 Glenn
13 Arrow

14 Marshall
15 Sims
16 Thaiday
17 Pangai Jr.

I don't think Opacic is that great of player, he seems like a soiled center reminds me of Reed. But we are getting some quality backs together so he will have to work hard to crack into the team.

Opacic made it into the side last season for a reason. We were low on troops but from what I understand the guy trains like a machine and does have skills. I thought he handled first grade pretty well.

What about mead definitely ahead of Pearson. Knit picking I know but Gillett wears 12

Wayne typically likes having a bolter in his Round 1 side and Jonus is as deserving as anyone else.

The rest of the side sounds fairly accurate, one player who I think will turn heads this year is Jaydn Su'A. For an elite prospect, I haven't heard his name mentioned, but players of his calibre tend to force their way into the 17.

Do you see him forcing his way onto the bench or into the starting side this year?

I'm not going to put the mockers on the guy! If he can force his way onto the bench, it wouldn't surprise me if he became a permanent fixture by season's end.

For now, I picture him in a Souths Logan jersey turning heads and receiving favourable 1910 field reports.

The important thing to consider with Jaydn is that he's ahead of schedule. Before the trial against North Queensland, I didn't think Su'A would feature at all in the upcoming season. He really looked comfortable playing alongside Milford and I believe those two will strike up a wonderful combination in the years to come.

I think Pearson is a better option than Mead whose best days are long behind him. Jonus might impress enough in the preseason to get the nod.

I wouldn't be surprised either if he forced his way onto the bench for 2017.

Definitely would like him in the 17 for 2018 so that he can be ready to start once Sam Thaiday retires or if he is killing it he might be starting in 2018 with Thaiday coming off the bench.

I think a few of the positions will come down too trial form.

I'm going to repeat myself here. I think Joe Ofa is going to surprise many people here.

He might do, but me personally I just don't think he has the necessary aggression in him to make the metres and be dominant in defense.
