Can you give me some examples please? I’m not doubting you but there are far too many comments without any substance on BHQ at the moment

Manly just sacked a beloved coach for a Wooden spoon winner and ostracised half their players over the pride jersey and not a single player has asked for a release as far as I’ve heard.
A lot of the carnage at broncos occurred after Seibold took the reigns.

Knik
Roberts
Macca (the first time)
Kahu (on loan)
D Fifita (bailed under Seibs)
Peresi (sacked)
Seggy (sacked)
Gillett (retired)
Savelio
Shibasaki
Jaydn Sua
McGuire
Pearson? (can't remember if he was released or not re-signed)
Jamil Hopoate (probably sacked)

give it time, Seibold hasn't even set foot in the club yet. how many of those players you listed asked for a release before Kevvie arrived at the club.

and I think you'll find that most of those players listed asked for a release because they lost their starting spot and become depth players. the few that didn't was purely money driven.

I won't go through every team, but i will give you an example:

The Warriors have released the following from their 2022 squad

Euan Aitken (Released - The Dolphins)
Daejarn Asi (released)
Lleyton Finau (released)
Jackson Frei (released)
Eliesa Katoa (released - Melbourne Storm)
Matthew Lodge (released)
Dunamis Lui (released)
Kodi Nikorima (Released - Souths)
Aaron Pene (released - Melbourne Storm)
Pride Petterson-Robati (Released)
Junior Ratuva (released)
Ashley Taylor (retired)
Reece Walsh (Released - Brisbane Broncos)

Warriors are a bad example because they relocated to New Zealand after 2 years in Australia. Even their coach didn’t want to go back.

Please don’t feel like you need to defend kev. I’m not trying to hold this against him. As @BroncsFan did a great job of showing above - Seibold saw a huge turn over.

the CM reporting that Mariner has been formally interviewed by the integrity unit about the Dolphins approach/release request.

he reportedly stood to earn an extra $1.2 million if he signed a long term deal with the Phins.

Mariner's manager is pleading innocent .. so are the Phins (before the revert to their standard defence that no other team has to sign 34 players plus train and trials in one year)

Dixon McIver (Mariner's manager) says:

“The NRL has made contact with us, yes,” McIver said.

“From my end it’s a pretty self-explanatory thing.

“There’s a difference between enticing a player (to break his contract) and some discussions that have transpired.

“We’ve left it to the Broncos and the NRL to sort it out and they will come up with deliberations in due course.”

Terry Reader's cut and copy response:

“I’m very confident,” he said. “We haven’t gone about breaking any rules or doing anything we’re not meant to.

“Managers speak to clubs every day and we’re no different.

“Every club wants to sign quality players and so do we. If they are available and interested we want to talk to them.

“We’ve dealt with unusual circumstances. Not many clubs have to sign 34 players in one year, plus train-and-trial players, and put academies together.

“We have said from the start we will be patient and wait for the right player.”

well then maybe your mate couldn't come up with something original today, so just rehashed what he said on Tuesday ... because everything I posted came from an article date stamped today (12/11/2022) @ 3pm

The NRL won’t do a damn thing.

Honestly, if he stands to make 1.2m more the club should release him. It's not right to deny someone that chance. If he stays he'll only resent the club for denying him the chance to earn that.

**** off he is 17 and 12 days into a new contract. It’s not right to think he deserved that chance. He already hates us and has conducted himself as an entitled ungrateful prick. He is old enough where he can bear some responsibility on his decisions and frankly he has made some horrific ones over the last few days/weeks/months. He can sit on the sidelines for 3 years.

Are you talking about Karl?
I'm talking about Mariner here. Karl can rot unpaid for 3 years for all I care.

Yeah I was sorry. Although still same applies only thing that slightly differs with Deine is that whilst money is probably the driving factor he hasn’t carried on like a pork chop and he has at least chucked up a decent excuse of the players in front of him. I reckon keep him until we know what’s up with Herbie and if Herbie stays it’s only right to let a player of that calibre walk. Preferably not to the dolphins though.

Edit: Not saying I don’t believe you but is the 1.2 million but true? Is there a source you got with that would love to have a read since I haven’t read to much into the Deine matter that flooded the news today?

Except for the fact that by the policies of the NRL organisation he should not have even been offered the opportunity to earn that much elsewhere while contracted.

take the extra $1.2 million figure for Mariner with a grain of salt.

it came from Badel in the CM. he doesn't even give definitive contract length ... just uses the phrase "long term contract"

This doesn’t sit right at all with me and the NRL needs to come out and rein this in but they won’t of course. And why is it only our kids being reportedly targeted? I thought they weren’t supposed to be cannibalising the Broncos because it very much looks like there exactly what they are trying to do.

Where are these offers for Howarth/Walker/Suaalii/that highly rated Storm kid that just re-signed and so on? What about Jojo Fifita or Brimson, why not target these guys?

They should not be allowed to offer anyone under contract a wink wink we’ll give you more. The NRL’s rules need to be enforced, I’m ticked off about all of this. Hope The fail miserably because any good will I had toward them is very much gone because it seems like they are trying to be the Roosters 2.0.

‘We’re not enticing you to break your current contract, but if you were to hypothetically do so *wink* *wink* you’d earn 1.2m more if you signed with us. Too bad you’re under contract so we can’t formally offer you that money though :(.’

most of the time, they haven't even been bothering with the *wink* *wink* ... they've been pretty blatant.

every now and again they try to justify themselves with Reader saying they haven't broken any rules before giving a reason why they need to break rules

Not sure how the Dolphins can say they aren't doing anything wrong, common sense says they are. But it appears as though the NRL are taking into consideration their circumstances and are giving them some leeway.
