He's got no chance. We all know Billy will more than likely pick Coates. Oates would also be better than Sami but that would involve moving Tualagi to the right.

Not too disappointed that Cobbo will miss out on origin.

I don't think it's a major injury in the grand scheme of things (1-2 weeks from NRL physio originally) so now he'll get to rest up, possibly till the Dolphins game in Rd 18.

We have cover in Arthars and Mariner as well

Pretty happy with the changes being proposed... except probably Coates for Cobbo. I'm not sure Coates is good enough as a winger in general... poor in yardage, not really a great finisher, poor aerially (despite his leap) and a suspect defender (even in the storm system)... bloke is failing up

Nanai is a bit of a gamble for Billy, but he provides spark on the edges and was good for Qld last year. Not certain that he's at the same form as last year, but his try last week vs storm is a sign of what he can bring. I think bringing Kaufusi in would be just as big a gamble given the amount of time he's missed, and he's basically there for defence only.

Capewell would've been the other choice, but potentially his defence is a concern... wouldn't have been surprised to see him come in though.

Brimson is probably my ideal 18th man for the amount of positions he covers, so I'm happy to see him come in.

Mo has been in outstanding form and was great the last time he played for Qld... I would've been happy with Horse as well, because his form has been excellent and he looks like an origin player, but Mo has already played and performed at origin level.

Experience might be lacking a little across the squad as a whole, but it would seem like Billy is trying to create a core of players to build around.

A swear he is the motivation for all the 2nd half comebacks every game for the titans. Tool bag. And he was an absolute dud in origin a few years ago. Oates is light years ahead.. but anyone but Coates. It's like Billy picks him to make it look like it was a good buy for Melbourne. The aerial specialist who can't catch

Billy always picks the kids, while they might not be the best in the position, it does seem like a plan for more long term success rather than just looking at the next game.

Even though I think Coates is a lost cause, too many fundamentals of his game are not up to standard.
