NEWS 'Abysmal, unacceptable': Legends unload on Broncos

Kevvie should be the Head Coach. Unfortunately we have one year wonder Seibold who won’t last two seasons.

Hopefully when he fails, they will go with Kevvie.

Sorry to be blunt but it’s just how I feel. I support Hodges’ comments 100%.

I cannot believe I've just seen @Kimlo bad mouth Justin Hodges!!!

Still love Hodges, will always be in my top 3 ever favourite Broncos but last year he was taking subtle shots at Wayne all year then he's been taking these swipes at Seibold since he's taken over the coaching role. It would be nice if our former captains, premiership winners and club legends actually supported the club. From the outside looking in it just seems like they're more interested in their mates getting gigs than actually getting behind the team.

Why should Walters be coach?

As usual Tallis has a personal stake which involves his relevance and his wallet.
Clearly Hodges is one of the ex players Kent said was promised employment if Kevvie landed the coaching job.
These guys seem happy to rip the club apart to get what they want and hold themselves up as having the solution at the same time.

Parasites

Tallis and Hodges can get fucked.

Seibold was and absolutely is the right option to replace Bennett even if I still strongly believe Bennett deserved the extra year. It's kind of pissing me off that all these ex players are bagging out the club and taking swipes at Seibold just because their mate didn't get the job.

Being a great player for us doesn't mean he'll be a good coach, our best ever coach was barely noteworthy as a player. In fact all the best coaches today were not noteworthy players. If Walters was serious about the Broncos job he would have taken the Titans offer, proved himself as an NRL coach and with results behind him he'd have walked into a Broncos job. Going from a coaching position that is Origin to an NRL coach is not something that any serious club is going to put a lot of weight into.

I hate to rag on Hodges but you're right. The club needs support now, not white-anting.

The Broncos have been burned twice now by looking within for a replacement coach, you can absolutely understand why they went with Seibold. For some reason, Kevvie comes across as too laid back and too friendly with the players to be able to put them in their place. That may just be a perception thing, as that's how he portrays himself to the media at Origin time.

Not sure whether taking the Titans job would have been a positive move, that club is death for a coach, but yes, proving himself as head coach for an NRL club is the minimum he'd have to do.

Absolutely agree. If you think there's something wrong Justy, why don't you go help out (and I thought he was one of the coaches, which makes this worse if he is). All of the old boys having a whinge should drop by training and see if there's something they can do to help get the boys back on track. Like all the FOGs who help out at Origin time. Be nice to see some unity at the club instead of all this incessant back-biting.

I’m only starting to feel as though all these articles are a ploy by the club to get these guys into gear.

There is like 10 a day about how bad we are and how much these guys are up themselves ect ect ect.

I hope it works

I don’t mind what Gordy and Hodgo are doing, if you read our post game comments it’s no different to what most on here are calling for.

They are merely pointing out the obvious, again no different to what most on here have seen.

Hodgo just expressed his support for Kevvie, with whom he works with every week. What was he supposed to say. He wasn’t vindictive in his comments towards Seibs. With the exception of adding SOS, he didn’t undermine the coach at all. He rightfully laid into the underperforming players. He’s passionate about the club he played and bleed for.

He absolutely is underming. Calling out the culture and questioning the coach publicly, backing up the cancerous Tallis and feeding the media circus that surrounds the club .

Haven't most of the players been banned from the media and socials etc?

Honey and sh**’: Anthony Seibold’s swipe at Bennett, greats

Broncos coach Anthony Seibold has hit back at club legends Gorden Tallis and Trevor Gillmeister and taken a veiled swipe at Brisbane’s playing record last year under Wayne Bennett ahead of Thursday night’s clash against the Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium.
Seibold used his weekly pre-match press conference on Wednesday to defend the club’s culture in the wake of a savage attack from former Broncos skipper Tallis, who suggested the current playing group were arrogant despite having “won nothing”.
Meanwhile, former Broncos forward Trevor Gillmeister, now Gold Coast’s defence coach, on Wednesday called for fullback Darius Boyd to be sacked as Brisbane skipper.

Seibold also defended his side’s error-riddled 1-3 start to the season, pointing to Brisbane’s record under Bennett, who began the 2018 campaign teetering at 3-7 before watching a 48-18 finals drubbing against the Dragons in what proved his final game as coach.
The Broncos coach confirmed rookie forward Pat Carrigan will debut on Thursday and fellow young gun Payne Haas will play his first game of the season, underlining Seibold’s youth policy as he attempts to build another premiership-winning era for the club.
Seibold insists he has not bothered to read every line of criticism from Tallis and Gillmeister, but he rejected suggestions Brisbane’s culture is flawed.
“I’m not sure what cultural aspects the football players are talking about,” Seibold said.
“Sometimes you swim in a pot of honey and sometimes you are swimming in a pool of shit. It’s a week-to-week thing in the NRL.

“Trevor has to understand he is working for the Gold Coast. I love ‘The Axe’, but he is with another team.
“I’m not sure what all this commentary is about.
“Darius wasn’t at his best last week, he is the first to tell you that, but two weeks earlier he was outstanding against the Cowboys.
“As far as our culture, it’s your actions. It’s not a fancy word on the building. You see every day how hard the players work. There’s no shortcuts on the field or in the gym or analysing the opposition.
“I don’t quite understand the line that the players don’t respect what has come before them.”
Seibold is stunned by the stinging dissection of Brisbane’s form after just four weeks of premiership action, referencing the Broncos’ patchy start under Bennett last year.
“Everyone has to take a breath and take a step back,” he said.
“The Broncos were 3-7 last year and in their last game they got beaten by 40 points.
“I’m a realist. I was in a very similar position last year (at South Sydney). At my old club, we were two from five, so this isn’t the first time I’ve been in this position.
“If I get caught up in all the commentary and the media, then I’m not doing my job.
“My job is to prepare the players as best as possible. I’m not across exactly what is being said or has been said. What I have to do is prepare for the Tigers. We have had a sound preparation.”
The Broncos are clearly prepared to take some short-term pain with Seibold, having signed the NRL’s reigning coach-of-the-year to a five-year deal.
Seibold says the blooding of another greenhorn in Carrigan and the selection of 19-year-old Haas, who returns from a four-week club-imposed suspension, underlines his investment in Brisbane’s future and his willingness to stay patient.

Not sure where a 3-7 start last year came from, we were 5-5.

Why should Walters be coach?

Great Broncos player. Knows what a winning culture at the club is. Experienced coach in different systems over many years. Has worked under great coaches like Bellamy and Bennett. Has coached at rep level.

Our marquee half played his best football at the club when he was working with him. Our biggest problem is direction of play from the halves and game management and Walters was an excellent half.

Seibold is not fit to lace Kevvie’s boots.

Maybe Kevvie should have done a 2 week course at Harvard. LOL.

Paul White’s head will be on the chopping bloke later this year when Seibold turns out to be an EPIC failure!

These past legends can go **** themselves, especially Hodges. Shut your fucking mouth. You were one of my favourite players but what you are saying about the club that supported you and made you what you are is disgusting. The fact that if Walters was appointed they would all be sucking his **** after the same results shows what a pathetic bunch of ***** these guys truly are. You keep complaining that the current players don't respect you or your legacy? why should they? Yes you were winners and as a fan I am grateful for your contributions on the field, but off the field you have shown yourself time and time again to be spineless pieces of shit only concerned about your mates and your media careers at the expense of your own club.

Also, I am sick of hearing about how we have lost our culture as a criticism of Seibold. If we have lost our culture that doesn't happen overnight so if it is gone it is because of your boyfriend Wayne.

The amount of disrespect for club legends like Hodges on here is absurd. They are suddenly not allowed an opinion now because they don’t agree with the appointment of Seibold. Why do they have to blindly support the decisions of the current management - management come and go.

How the **** do you know that Seibold will be an "Epic failure"? Did Hodges and Tallis bless you with their crystal balls?

Get behind the team you profess to support and that means getting behind their new coach and stop the mindless undermining.

He will be an epic failure because he cracks under pressure. When Souths started losing a few games before the finals last year he was getting incredibly testy. We are going to do a lot of losing this year with all the young guys that we have and I think he will crack under the pressure of having to deliver results and not being able to do so. I genuinely think he’ll be sacked before the end of the season.
