Anthony Seibold is no longer our coach

Former Australian player that did work for the NRL? Probably Darius Boyd [emoji23]

A foreign investigation company has NO right for warantless searches through our private conversations for a CIVIL matter. This is insane! Like totally batshit insane to do this, and that this is allowed by companies to do.
Has someone said this has happened?

Mmmmm, I tend to agree generally with your post but not plugging in to the matrix is an option still. I strongly believe that children, if taught early enough become the better equipped adult(sub adult) and schools(and governments) plus parents should be hammering home the message essentially from birth. We have seen what can be imprinted on(in?) childrens minds with thousands of different religions and even musical prodigies custom built so early example and teaching would produce a less malleable future generation. In my opinion!

I hear you loud and clear, yet I still can't see how your proposition evades social media and its consequences. You can't not plug into something of which you are already an inevitable part. In whatever way, whatever the technology, technology connects us all, and there is no escape, only the illusion of it's possibility, always and already defined by, and limited to, the technology that makes such pipe dreams possible. Google never forgets. Anyway, back to the Matrix, and my '65 XP project ...

Never really sure why you do this to me on most occasions! I mean which parts of my posts even remotely suggested a complete separation? I think I only dealt with the way a child perceived the value of internet opinions.

Can you not see it isn't helpful to suggest an intention from my posts? An action no rational person would think is reasonable? I don't want an argument yet again, I am happy with what I wrote and why.

I'm neither having a go at you nor attributing intentions, other than to further the discussion, which is also my intention. My point, or part of it, is that any degree of separation from the internet is an illusion. Perceptions of internet opinions are felt, not thought. That comes later. I have been trying to teach my daughter about the internet, or specifically SM for the better part of 12 years and I keep getting the same message : "but dad, it's important to me what others think and feel about me, how they see me, and I can't just ignore it". However, as you so correctly suggest, there really is no other option but to keep teaching, and never stop supporting those you love when they get bullied, aside from the obvious attempt of redress, which I suppose is something, even if it's just symbolic.

I think Tallis had a role at nrl previously but not anymore. I don't know what the Siebold rumours were but I understand they were repugnant. However, I felt the whole investigation thing was bad PR management and came across as a flustered attempt to divert attention from Siebolds underperformance. Why announce at that stage that you are doing it. Keep quiet until you have the evidence to pursue it and announce it then. Very strange.

It's like Seibold is that guy that is eager to learn off the best, takes notes on everything, but just does not know how to apply it correctly.

The strategy sounds like classic Bennett - happily take the spotlight so that the playing roster fly under the radar. But it was so poorly handled, with stupid claims (48 hours), that he just became a laughing stock, with that ineptitude personifying everything wrong with the team's performance. It made everyone think "no wonder the team is so shit, this guy has no clue".

I wouldn't say that is classic Bennett, I'd say that's reflective of modern Bennett if anything who has softened a lot. Classic Bennett wouldn't tolerate a lot of shit from his players or the media and though a man of few words when he did speak was often straight to the point and often reflective of exactly how the side or a player was travelling and he wasn't afraid of making the tough decisions. Seibold doesn't even remotely reflect that, he couldn't even stand his ground when dropping Oates.

Do tell about the 65 XP project, perhaps in the automotive thread.

I still maintain seibold's downfall was he believed in the hype of our young guys and he believed into the hype that he was the next big thing in the coaching world.

He came in thinking this young forward pack was the best thing since sliced bread and were ready to take the world by storm. He also came in with a very specific set game plan which he was 100% confident would work.

Our young guys weren't as good as he thought and his game plan didn't work as planned. And now here we are today.

To be fair, everyone else went in believing that as well, including the players themselves. The rest as they say is history.

When you or your club cuts one of your most seasoned forward campaigners in your present squad going into your first season as coach at a new club and don't replace him with a suitable experienced replacement or replacements in a young forward pack your asking for trouble, a young forward pack needs seasoned hardened leaders to carry the load and lead by example and to learn from them. I don't doubt they were hyped and more then they probably deserved but any serious coach would realise this. The Broncos had a lot of great young forwards in the early days, but do you think it was coincidence that we weren't serious premiership contenders until Miles was moved into the backrow and made captain? Gillmeister and Lazarus were brought in?

Totally right, look back over the years when the Broncos were successful on the field, every forward pack had hardheads and workaholics, all the up and coming young forwards came off the bench and earnt their place in the side with increased workloads over a couple of seasons, before making the run on side, Bennett used to manage that side of the team extremely well, as far as Anthony Siebold goes I could never take him seriously, no matter how often I yelled at the tv during his press conferences, he still would not spit that golly up from the back of his throat, couldn't possibly take him serious.

Seibold made many mistakes. Before he even arrived he turned the team against him by saying he wanted to sack 6 of them. Then he didn’t understand the fundamental differences between being a teacher and being a coach. The current crop of players are idiots and don’t want to be lectured. He had no rapport or understanding of these players at all. His inability to change his coaching when the new rules were introduced was embarrassing. And any idea he had was worthless because he’d tell anyone who would listen about it just so he could tell people how smart he was.

There’s a new tv show out at the moment called Ted Lasso. About an American football coach being asked to coach an EPL team and the entire thing is about man management being the priority. Getting the guys to step up for you is a massive deal in coaching and he failed at that from the get go.

The narrative spinning to somehow blame anyone else, other than the players and the people who made the decision to bring him here is ridiculous. The excuses have been exhausted. Seibold fucked up from the beginning, the board fucked up and panicked after they missed out on Bellamy and the players fucked up by being dickheads.

Fairly much nailed it. Great post.

I was on board for Seibold not because I necessarily believed in him, but because I foolishly trusted the idiots that hired him and fired Bennett.

I assumed that apparently being well experienced business people and responsible board members that they would have undertaken appropriate due diligence including putting Seibold under the pump during his interview about his record as a head coach and then making enquiries with the relevant clubs for feedback about his coaching.

Instead, they are apparently like magpies and are attracted by shiny things. Do a great power point presentation and speak glibly and you are in.

Needless to say, I won't be making that mistake ever again.

The NFL reference makes me chuckle, remembering the pro-Seibold lot comparing how he would be like Belichick :rofl

Yep, way to twist the context (it wasn't me by the way), but the context to that comparison was when the anti-Seibold brigage were on their rant about him being fat and how could he inspire his players re physical fitness etc. The comparison to Belichick was made about physical body types, not coaching ability.
