ARL bans Israel Folau from Origin III

So Carr doesn't want a nice, clean-cut, fair TOTALLY AWESOME player involved in SOO, but he's more than happy for piece of crap, headbutting scumbag Hayne to play. I know which player's involvement is a bigger blight on the game.

And FTR, since the Qld team was selected, there has been pretty much no mention of AFL in any Origin coverage - until Carr opened his big fat mouth so really it is him who is giving "free kicks" to the AFL. Issy stated at the time of his signing that he was now 100% all about RL until the end of the season and he would not be promoting AFL - I think he would definitely stick to his word on that, but now Carr is going on with this crap, well he's really forcing Issy into a potential change of heart on that statement.

Geoff Carr has never been about the good of game - Geoff Carr has always been about what is good for Geoff Carr.

It's the ARL that won't recognise Lockyer's 'most test matches played' record, isn't it?

Bunch of dickheads.

Why is that? Because of Super league?

Yes, those test teams (with Superleague players) weren't officially recognised by the ARL...

Think it's his most test tries record (he's currently equal with Ken Irvine on 33, he scored 2 tries in 4 Super League Tests), but yeah, they didn't recognise his "most Tests" record until during last season's Tri Nations.

He has played more test matches than Ruben Wiki, but they won't recognise that.

Ah OK. He'll go close. Locky currently has 50 and will play 4 in the Four Nations...that'll leave him 1 short. And Locky's sounding like he wants to go around again next year, so hopefully he'll pass him then.

I hope the QRL counters this by saying all code defectors should be banned for life from rep games. That'd also rule out Tahu from game 3.

But having Tahu in the NSW team, strengthens the QLD side.

This is a case of the QRL putting themselves ahead of the game, I feel. Regardless of what he's playing now, Folau is, in the minds of the public, an AFL recruit. Selecting him for the biggest feature of the rugby league season is pretty much reinforcing the fact that he's a superstar. And by not selecting another player the QRL are admitting that he's irreplaceable.
I'm not wearing the blue coloured spectacles. If Jarryd Hayne had signed for GWS I'd be against him playing Origin as well. If the QRL had said from the outset that he'd still be available, that would make it easier to swallow. But it seems that they can flip-flop on their strong convictions if it suits them - which would piss off everyone on this forum if it were the NSWRL doing it.

As an aside, this might work against GWS a little bit - sure, the AFL can be smug that they're getting one of RL's best, but good luck to GWS in convincing the residents of Western Sydney that the bloke in the maroon jumper is 'one of them'.

Does the NSWRL/ARL not think that by continuing to debate this subject, they are the ones keeping Folau's defection in the spotlight.

AFL must be sitting back and rubbing their hands at all of this. This is why Izzy was worth the 4-6 million dollars, even if he can't play the game.

That's a load of cr*p!

Are you saying that changing your mind after sound reflection is bad?
I think most if not all of us would be in serious trouble if we didn't "backflip" on every knee jerk reaction we had in our lives!

Dukey already said it. Good look convincing people that the superstar killing it in the maroon jumper dreams of fumble ball.
Besides, all of this will attract plenty of them fumble ball fans to OUR GAME, even if out of curiosity for Izzy. I dare someone to show me where this is bad for RL!

Of course, what we really don't need, is a dinosaur like Carr carrying on about it and pushing it back into the headlines. The AFL are probably rubbing their hands at the extra publicity that fool brought them!

Edit: Ooompfff at OXY-351, copying my stuff...

It's not an opinion fool. They want to change the fucking rules.

Plus they can't really change the rules once the series has started. You never know - Issy may not have signed with GWS if he knew from the outset it would mean missing out on origin this year (OK I know in reality that it wouldn't have changed his mind, but he made his decision with all information and rules at the time).

In future AFL/RU/Superleague whatever will get even more publicity by players not announcing their intentions before Origin season is over. Basically all during the origin campaign the will he/won't he/where will he sign discussions and supposition will be going on. At least Issy's way it was done and everyone was just getting on with talking about RL and Origin - until Carr started publicising AFL again.

No, a backflip is fine. But if you're going to backflip then don't whinge at the ARL for having an opinion that was the exact same opinion that you had before your backflip. That's the point.

The ARL is giving fumble ball free publicity while pushing a state (NSW) agenda and trying to rub not only Folau, but also Inglis from game 3 with another "special law amendment". That's the point!

Who gives a farking shit, they are both of the opinion that Folau shouldn't play. The only difference between the ARL and Queensland is because of the fact that the ARL have the power to push for the rule change to ensure that QLD can't do any more backflips.

If QLD didn't change their mind, the ARL wouldn't have bothered about trying to change a rule but CLEARLY QLD want to play games to suit THEMSELVES so all the ARL are doing is trying to put a stop to this.

actually they don't. to change the rules they need 75% of the vote they need at least one of the QLD members of the board to vote with them ... the way Carr has been acting i highly doubt that would happen

Incorrect. Clearly the QRL are not of the opinion that he shouldn't play or he wouldn't be playing game 2. SOME senior players and ONE QRL administrator (note it was the opinion of Ross Livermore NOT the QRL board or selectors) made public statements based on emotions when Issy first announced his decision. However once they let the dust settle and realised that not letting him play would cause more damage to the game than letting him play they changed their mind - which they are very entitled to do.

If it was a NSW player involved we would not be hearing a peep out of Geoff Carr on this.
