Ashes 2015 Series in-game thread

and if this shit **** shaun marsh(mellow) EVER sets foot in our test side again (without a mountain of domestic runs under his belt) well the selectors are officially taking the piss

Wholesale changes won't work; because this is our best 11 give or take a few sometimes.

Probably right but I'd sooner see a 25 year old Joe Burns in there than Shaun Marsh continue to get out the same way every time he plays. Voges may have saved his bacon with his runs last night and Clarke is simply buggered because his back is gone. There is at least 3 changes to be made in the batting that should happen.

He has actually been scoring a fair amount of runs in the last 18 months but he is still the same average guy who gets out in identical fashion every match.

Shaun Marsh is Shane Watson, both have bucket loads of talent gone to waste but the have nice techniques and so should therefore in the selectors eyes make runs at some point before they are 50 years old and will keep getting picked. It's such a shame Hughesy is gone, this team desperately needed him and his absence will affect this side for years to come.

They need to follow the Qld origin team's lead and re-establish the history and pride of the yellow-tinged whites and re-build from the ground up. Look at the five years left or more players in the team and build around that. Therefore:

1. Warner
3. Smith
6. MMarsh (livid they dropped him)
7. Nevill

then the core bowlers: Hazlewood, Starc, Pattinson, Cummins, Sandhu

Also, work hard on the kid spinners we have coming through in Muirhead, Zampa, Boyce, Agar, et al.

Rogers has the pride in the jersey so if he can, you keep him going.

That bowling depth will win us quite a few games in the meantime while we slow build a five year batting team that will take us back to dominating test cricket.

Dead set I could listen to crash craddock talk about cricket all day.

Summed up my thoughts on S Marsh perfectly.

"Shaun Marsh, I dont think I have ever seen a more over-rated sportsmen."

Not a cricket buff at all, but is there any way at all that we can draw this match? Or are we completely fucked no matter what happens?

Yeah, we could even win it, if the tail could perform a miracle and manufacture 250/300 runs, and the bowlers then do to the poms what they did to us in the first innings. And then...

Smith should go back to #4. Bring in Khawaja to bat at 3 IMO and Joe Burns at 5. I know Rogers has been good, but he's 38. We need to find another opener. The selectors just need to ditch their NSW first selection policy.

Honestly don't think it matters who plays in the 5th test, or which batsmen came over.

There's nobody in shield cricket getting experience on wickets like these. So unless there's a Don hiding in state cricket, it's all pretty much the same.

Remember this is mostly the same side that just won 5-0 in Australia.

First of a few I imagine. Let's hope SMarsh and SWatson have also played their last games.

I didn't mean for 5th test. After the rumoured post-Ashes cull. I just think thay there are players who have runs on the board in the state competition that are overlooked because they don't play for NSW.

Multiple retirements inbound.

Well the clean out is needed unfortunately. It's going to be interesting next series. Bangladesh is definitely improving and we will be more vulnerable than ever with half a new team.

Bet you're Victorian in some way. If not you would love life there.

Yeah Warner, Smith, Nevill, Lyon etc only get picked on where they are from nothing to do with the fact they are the best batsmen/keeper/spinner in the country

I don't like the Mexicans - but not as much as I hate the NSWankers. But that's irrelevant to this discussion.

But congratulations on posting 3 pictures of random players Australia has tried. I disagree that Neville is the best keeper and Lyon was just lucky we had no decent spinners. He will be overtaken soon so it will be interesting to see if he holds his spot.

Well Neville did score the most runs for a keeper in the shield, has a high score of 235 (from last year) and averages almost 50 as a batsmen. I don't see how you can argue against him getting some kind of recognition.

Keepers are really picked on their batting these days

Not sure what sort of roster we'll be going with moving forward, Harris gone, Clarke gone, Rogers more than likely gone, doubt Watson & S.Marsh will get any more opportunities given their age. I'm not a massive fan of Voges either, plus he's 35. Johnson may not have many years left either.

1. Warner
2. Maddinson
3. Lynn
4. Smith (c)
5. Burns
6. M.Marsh
7. Nevill
8. Starc
9. Cummins
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood

Something like this I guess, Lynn & Burns deserve a proper shot at test cricket, both been consistently good for Queensland for quite a while. Both average 40+ in FC and both can play aggressive if need be.
