Australian summer of cricket 2009-10

I rate Watson but that was stupid. In his defence the Windies have been giving it too him all series. Still bad when the Captain has to tell ya to pull your head in.

A little nervous about 50 runs with the tail. I wonder who the selectors will pick out of Dougie,Siddle and Hilfy

agreed ... Watson has been in good form this series with bat and ball. personally i don't mind the windies. the matches are usually played in a really good spirit, as opposed to other teams like India, although at times in this match there has been some problems.
 
I like the fact that the Windies seem to care again. The side is starting to believe in themselves again and it is reflected in the way both sides are approaching the game. It is great for the game if the Windies are competitive.
 
Watson's a child. He carries on like a dick when he takes a wicket. He almost cries when he gets out. Looks like a spoilt brat if he gets an edge when he's bowling and it doesn't go to hand, or an umpire quite rightly turns down an LBW appeal.

I like characters in the game, but a petulant child is not a character.

PS: It's fantastic that the Windies are competitive. After the way everyone whinged and moaned how they would be walkovers before during and after the first Test, they've really shown a thing or two.
 
Watson is a wanker, no doubt about it. But he is probably the most talented cricketer in the side at the moment.
 
What was everyones view on the final wicket? the slow mo showed nothing as well as hot spot yet he was still given out. The review system seems bloody pointless to me.
 
Wasn't their reasoning that the original decision was out, and so there had to be conclusive evidence that it wasn't out to overturn it. Because Rauf (?) couldn't see clearly that the ball missed the bat he didn't have enough evidence to overturn the decision. He'd basically need to see daylight between bat and ball, or the ball hitting pad or something.
 
it's designed to overturn the really obvious incorrect calls.

This decision wasn't "really obvious" one way or another, so benefit of the doubt goes to the on-field umpire and their decision, which was out. Had Billy given it not out and it been referred, then I'm certain it would've remained not out too.
 
The umpire review system can only change decisions if there is evidence proving it.
 
I personally thought it was not out, but obviously the evidence showed otherwise and I was wrong. Still nothing taking away from the Windies. They showed tremendous improvements in the 2nd and 3rd tests and gained my respect.

My opinion of our test side- Everysingle one of them absolute douchebags and a bunch of bad sports and sore losers.
Ponting, haddin, Bollinger and Johnson get special mentions.

Ponting-absolutely the worst captain ever in all forms of cricket, not just Australian cricket.
Bollinger- What can I say? the guys a turd. Definitely in my bad books.
Haddin- Haddin is a poser and mega douchebag. After he dives for a ball and misses it, he stays on the ground and smiles at the camera. Also he threatened Benn with his bat.
Johnson- Definitely the worst of the lot. Mega showoff.

As for the Benn, Haddin and Johnson incident, Im on Benns side. He was trying to pick the ball up but Haddin just barged him and made it look like Benns at fault. Haddin was at fault, no doubt in my mind. Byastism Australian judiciary. Benn got banned for 3 games whilst the others just got fined absolutely nothing for them, only 3k.

Anyway this is just what I think personally, obviously different to some of you guys

I reckon Benn's punishment was fair enough as he came and had a go at them in the over break. Haddin pointed his bat at him and he had a sook. What would you have Johnston do? Stop in his run and possibly get run out, and if you look closely Benn has 2 go's a draggin him back.

Cant agree with Bollinger tho, he gets fined for kicking the ground in frustration AFTER Ponting had wasted the 2 referrals and when he could have used one there.

Katich, Calrke and Hussey are theonly ones to get on with the game. They always walk when they get BS decisions against them.

Just my opinion tho
 
Katich is a top fella, definitely my favourite player since Martyn retired.
 
I have nothing but admiration and extreme respect for Doug Bollinger. I'd throw him the ball over Johnson anyday. Pace, accuracy, constant effort, consistency, passion. Perfect.
