The record couldn't have gone to a better man, best batsman of all time and a humble bloke.

oh yeah he deserves the record but were all the celebrations and fireworks really necessary?? ?

I think they were.

Most runs ever scored in the world is a fairly big feat.

Shame there weren't more people at the ground.

Looks like Khan was right, our bowlers are pretty ineffective. Frigging selectors, why take Siddle when Hilfenhaus and Noffke are tearing it up here. And White, worst spinner in history.

It was like bowling on the M1 seriously some people have NFI!!! Wait and see how the Indians bowl on the wicket before you crucify our bowlers... Siddle didn't set the world on fire though IMO

Just saw the replay of the stumping that wasn't given.

Forget the fact that it was clearly out, I can't believe it didn't even get sent upstairs!

Koertzen needs to go back to his retirement villiage. Or at least get his eyes checked [eusa_naugh

Looking like he may need to take Haydos with him

Looks like the Aussies are headed for certain defeat here. But at least we're not looking like losing to Bangladesh like NZ are!

Seriously, they should rename New Zealand's national team the Vettori. Because he's the ONLY bloke that is competitive. He took 5 wickets in the Deshis first innings, has 4 in the second, and was the only player to top 30 in the Kiwi innings (was 55 not out).

Similarly, Shakib al Hasan is having a dominant impact for Bangladesh. Took 7/36 in the NZ innings, having only had 3 wickets to his name in his 6 tests so far, and then smashed 71 to take Bangladesh from 5/71 in their second dig to be reasonably safe at 8/184 with a lead of 258.

Here's hoping the Deshies get past 200 and then bowl the Kiwis out for a deserved win.

All we can hope for now is that India root up the declaration in one way or another. They, as well as other subbie teams, can sometimes be at their most vulnerable when in a clear winning position. If they set us under 4 full sessions to survive we may, complemented by a hugely improved batting performance, just have a slight chance to avoid defeat. Pitch still looks like its holding up well for what you'd expect in India.

Yep. Just have to learn how to play this Mishra bloke.

We need Hayden and Katich to bat for 2 sessions if we are to win this one IMO. Our bowling has been poor this test and Batting was even worse. A few of the players need to have a good long hard look at themselves..

Well after yesterday the Indians made our top order look like schoolboys. I always knew we were really up against it with our bowling attack which is very inexperienced and lacks the penetration of the Indians. The only exception is Johnson, he has really come along. What I am surprised at is our batting which has let us down and putting the bowlers under additional pressure.

Yep our batsmen let us down and our bowlers particularly Lee have been garbage. Our bowlers just ain't good enough to bowl India out at the moment. They have 2 genuine Spinners bowling at us on turning tracks and we have Cameron White lol

Senior players have let the side down to this point. Hayden (albeit unlucky in the 1st test), Lee and Clarke mainly. Hussey has led the batsmen and Johnson the bowlers, but with little support (other than Ponting's first test hundred).

Bracken should be in the team.

For starters, he's the number one bowler in one day cricket and would be a ton more accurate and economical than Siddle and Johnson (and even Lee, although he would never be dropped).

Bracken needs a hair cut not a trip to India. Bracken does nothing but bowl slower balls which are only really suited to one day bowling. Noffke should be in India as should Casson or Hauritz

Bracken's slower balls would be awesome in India at the moment. There have been a heap of wickets off slower balls so far this series.

And in terms of the spinners, McGain's injury has come at the worst possible time. He would have been in the side for certain.

I can't bear to read cricinfo, yet I cannot bear to look away......gah!
