Barba vs Boyd

For all the hate and **** about Boyd/bennetts relationship that has been said, I think it is all a null point because you can't have Milford and barba in the same spine. They are too similar and it just won't work. This isn't bennett thoughts to justify signing Boyd, this is been said by commentators, journalists, fans Etc for ages.

Boyd at the back will lead us to a premiership

I can't really agree with this statement.

Having two dynamic ball runners in any spine would be a great asset to the team, and combine that with both of them being able to ball play within the structures that Bennett will more than likely bring .... i can only see it being a win-win situation.

Barba just needs to get confidence back .... and Wayne is the master at getting players back on their feet again.

So Barba's 2013 season issues aren't a valid reason for his below average performance, and define why he isn't an option. But Boyd's being crap for 3 seasons in a row, especially 2014, is not defining of anything, and he will definitely perform without a doubt! Cool story...

Why did you criticise Hook and his choices on this forum? It was his team, he was the coach, why argue?
Why didn't you accept it?
When you're a coach and have your own team, you can make your own decisions.

You forgot to put the line in where Wayne says that Boyd is the best fullback of them all (don't argue this please, it is very clear in his interview's video), but don't let that get in the way of your argument...

P.S. I don't think you have to worry... I don't see Wayne jumping off a bridge any time soon, nor asking anyone to do it...
Hard to argue with that lol..you win. I shouldn't have written what I did on that one !

although to be fair I my criticism of Hook came afterhis terrible selections and actions......

IMO with Bennett confirming he will definitely be playing Milford in the 5/8 role,

Where did he confirm this....?

Certainly would put my mind at ease regarding Barba V Milford and who gets the bench spot.

That said, if that's the case, I think Barba will be a waste of a spot in the side. Not really keen on trying to turn an ex-fullback / ex-5/8 into a dummy half specialist. We should free up the money and let him go.

Bennett said in the interview that Milford will definitely be 5/8 and he'll persevere with him in that position too.

Thanks mate...I just read the Milford thread where the article was posted and basically reiterated what you've just said about perseverance.

Exciting times ahead.

Apparently he has been shopped around and no one will take on his wage so we have him for the next two years at present.
Bennett has only said Boyd is potentially the best fullback. We have not signed him and he will have to show that potential to be our fullback.
How about we wait for the team to be picked for the first game and ease up on all the hysteria that is going on here. I haven't had a look at how many pages this thread is up to but your points are just repeated over and over again.
I am getting bored, can someone bring up something new in this debate

Really....?

my points related more to the bench spot between Milford & Barba and now that WB's confirmed it won't be Milford and that he will be at 6, that leaves the discussion on whether Barba is of any value to the side at all. If you had bothered to read the previous pages you would have clearly seen the debate was going around in circles about who is the better fullback between Barba and Boyd.

One reason why the thread is named......Barba V Boyd

I agree completely about your point the this thread is hysteria and nonsense, but imho you have directed this post at the wrong poster(s). Four ex hasn't really even posted this much in here and his one worry was that Milford would become the bench option, which is fair enough.

SorryFourex
Only the first line was directed to your post the rest was just general discussion.
my post was a little ambiguous

Can someone please point me to the source of this news about "Barba being shopped around and no one wanting him"? Seems that an unfounded rumour launched here without any verification, is being taken as fact a bit too easily...

Potentially, Barba is ten times the fullback Boyd will ever be.
That line about Boyd being the potentially better fullback at the club is exactly why I don't believe Wayne can be objective about Darius. If this was coming from anyone but Wayne Bennett, people would just laugh and dismiss it as idiotic.

It's also funny to read that we suddenly will have too much flair in the spine and need a "solid" player from the back.

Dobbo from Triple M, he has some inside information, it's rarely 100% accurate but.
