Barba vs Boyd

That is completely out of context and you both know it

Oh ... so this isn't a universally applied rule to determine value, but rather one that gets applied when it suits your argument and discarded when it doesn't.

I'm with you now.

Haha because they're all close to retirement and their skills have dropped dramatically since their rep days. Holy shit, let's just sign Clinton Schifcofske to play fullback? What do you mean he's not as good as he used to be?

You take that back. Clin-ton is a god.

Actually, in all seriousness, we've probably been in talks with him... to sign some of his players.

What the **** are you smoking. I was responding to a posted question from porthoz to me, it was taken out of context and you have just confused it. I don't even understand the question anymore.

And I'll tell you something right now I'm pretty fucking sick of your sarcastic shit to me in every thread about when it suits your argument. I cut out the sarcastic shit because it was annoying people but you have well and truly picked up the baton, so much so that you are killing any discussion people are trying to have

Who here thinks Milf will definitely be a rep player in the future? Who here thinks the same of Barba?

Not sure, given Wayne has announced he'll be used in the halves, chances are he'll be stuck behind DCE and Hunt, unless he gets used as a utility in the rep arena...

I don't think Barba will, but that's not to say that he isn't much better than most rep players and more deserving of rep jerseys. Like a lot of other great players hes just unlucky that he plays in the position that some of the greats of the game play in currently and already have a long history in the rep jerseys, so they wont be replaced easily.

At FB he has Slater and Inglis in front of him for QLD, with Milford also banging on the door. In any other decade he wouldve been the fullback for QLD and Australia if he played like he did in 2011 and 2012.

Yes but Slater and Inglis were just as good as Barba at his height. Inglis maybe not so much as that was his final year at center. Those players also have consistency on their side. Something Barba hasn't been able to achieve yet.

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

2020? **** that I hope to never see you on here again. You don't like Boyd as a player? That's fine, say you don't want him here coz he's a **** player. But you leave his personal issues out of it, how dare you carry on about his depression etc. just because you prefer barba and believe that this amazing talent that has only been sighted for one season will just reappear.

EDIT: Inappropriate content.

That escalated quickly. "carry on" about his depression. Get a grip.

The point of my post was Barba has a 10 x greater upside than Boyd, given the chance. Boyd's overrated. We've had a capable "consistent" fullback (Hoffman) for 4 years, who has been the scapegoat or hamstrung by the lack of a genuine 5/8 since Lockyer's departure, probably unfairly. But that's another discussion.

So we get rid of an attacking fullback (Barba) and sure up the best rookie 5/8 in the game (Milford). So we're back to square one of decent halves and no Karmichale Hunt to play Bennett's second man play (let alone a decent forward pack to lay the platform, even moreso sans Hannant and Kennedy).

Welcome to 2010.

I pray and hope the Bennett return works. I think it's a mistake on principle, shortsighted and driven by external forces to the club, who don't really know anything about football. I will be gladly proven wrong and be the first to eat my hat.

Barba's likely axing is collateral damage to the "Bennett way", and I think it sucks.

people keep talking about Barba's 2012 form and how he hasn't been consistently good since.

however they conveniently forget that the last time that Boyd was consistently good was 2010. probably because it doesn't suit their agenda to mention it.

and Barba's 2012 was far better than anything we have ever seen from Bennett's golden boy.

and you can't tell me Hasler is the only coach that can get that type of form from Barba. pre 2012, everyone would have just assumed Bennett could do the same for Barba (similar to what he did for Soward), and if he can't do that anymore then i guess he really has lost it
