Ben Hunt vs Ash Taylor

How is Taylors running game in the same ball park a Hunts? Where the shit is everyone getting this from? His one run on the weekend? It's simply not true. There might be some halfbacks who are close to, if not as good as Hunt as far as being a running half but Taylor is not one of them.

people are getting it from actually watching the guy play ... and not just this season

That's cool because I watched him play every home game last year and saw him dominate a bunch of teenagers too. Whoop-dee-fuckin'-doo.

Yeah, how weird that he was dominating in his age category. He should've been dominating the NRL since the age of 16 of course.

I also saw Ben Hunt rip apart grown men, clubs with 17 rep players and you know, take the Broncos to a Grand Final. But yeah, Ash Taylor will be better because of reasons. This is dumb. I think it's obvious that Sam Scarlett and Will Brimson will be the greatest halves pairing that ever lived, because nobody can deny my theory that they will get better in the future.

I can't remember Hunt doing that after 8 first grade games ...

but i suppose you didn't read the very first post ... this is a PREDICTION THREAD about who people think will be better in 2-3 YEARS ... not right this second, because of course Hunt is better than i guy who has played a grand total of 8 FG games ... Hunt has well over 100 FG games to his credit.

I read it and I think it's dumb. You're saying what Hunt has done since he's been in first grade doesn't count as an argument as to why he could be better and that's all anyone has so therefore this whole guessing thread is stupid and so one sided and bias.

No one is comparing them now, that would be just silly. As the thread OP asks, this in only an exercise in guessing what their future will be.

I am comparing their talent and what they could do at the same stage of their respective careers as a base point to what Taylor can become in relation to where Hunt is now. I think Ash will be better THEN, not NOW!
Whether that will be the case or not, only the future can tell.

It seems that people thinking that Taylor could become better in the future than Hunt, upsets a number of people. I'd like to understand why...?

Because the whole thread has been one sided bullshit. We can pick and choose which positives to take from Taylors game but anything Hunt has done after his first 8 games can't be used as a response.

you're not comparing what Hunt did after 8 games ... you're comparing what Hunt has done last year or after 100+ games

Exactly. How is that not relevant to how good Future Ben Hunt will be?

I'm sorry guys, I must have misread. I thought this was a thread about guessing the future based on things that are known, not how good the two players were after 8 games.

I best be off, I have a hover board to ride.

This thread seems like a sensitive topic for some people. Do I sense some insecurity around Hunt's ability to lead the Broncos to a premiership?

For the record, I agree Cult, this thread has become muddled. I don't mind it if people compare their abilities now, but I disagree Hunt's sample should be only include his first seven games. For starters, Hunt was younger during that time, wasn't playing half and wasn't in a position to play in a full-strength outfit.

Compare them on their 2016 achievements.

I also believe both players have improvement in them.

No one chose and picked. Hunts strengths and weaknesses have been highlighted in the same way as Taylor's.
The difference in age and experience gives Hunt a huge advantage, which Taylor cannot compete with, because he simply hasn't gotten there yet!

The only way I can think of to predict where Taylor might be in the future compared to Hunt, is to compare both players at the same stage of their career.
You know a better way, feel free to bring it up, but please stop the whining about people picking on Hunt.

Interesting story in last week's edition of Big League.

A blistering start to the season has put Ashley Taylor in the spotlight on the Gold Coast, but there is one area of his game his team-mates are keen for him to improve. The 21-year-old is working on calling the shots as a dominant half, something he's not used to after only six NRL games.

"Being the dominant half out there (against the Broncos) I had to talk a lot, I was calling the shots," Taylor said. "They feed off me, I just try to relay the call and get us in the best position for the kick."

Taylor is hopeful of recovering from a shoulder injury to play Cronulla on Sunday.

I haven't whined about people picking on Hunt at all. I'm simply saying there is no way to predict the future and that it's stupid to even try.

Don't tell clubs that Cult, talent scouts will be out of a job.

Did Des get it wrong with Hodko?
