I don't get at all the point that Origin has broken his confidence when he contributed shit in this years Origin. Even leading up to Origin, it's Widdop & the rest of Dragons played well and carried him along. It's not that he mesmerized with his halfback play every week leading to Origin.

As it stands, we are almost confirmed to play Dragons next week. So, irrespective of where we play next week, nothing more than us ending their over hyped season & further sinking his so called tarnished confidence would satisfy me.

I agree as a $300k hooker with performance based incentives up to 500k and a great of dose humility welcome back with open arms. Added bonus of drags picking up anything beyond that he feels entitled to. However contract needs to read not to play halfback unless injury toll is so bad everyone in top 30 who has ever wore the number 7 since primary school is down and we’ve failed with TPJ in the 7! Reckon TPJ as 7 would show more ticker under pressure.

Not going to happen but Hunt doesn’t strike me as a bad egg. He and the people who are hiring him are setting him up to fail. Too much money which comes with expectation creating too much pressure and not the right skill set. Take the heat off as a 40 minute bench hooker or put him at 6 next a Cronk and he’d be good value at half a million.

Btw just a note for desperate clubs with more dollars then sense: throw 1.2 mill a year at me and I’ll play halfback and be booed every week when I inevitably stink it up... just putting it out there to whoever has cap or sombrero space.

Can I just say I hate this assumption that people seem to make of 'oh you all would take the most money offered to you so lay off' when that simply isn't the case. I have been offered far more money than I am earning in a role that was far higher than my current one. I turned it down because at this stage of my career the role was too big for me and at this stage I wouldn't be up for it so rather than getting the money for a year or so before I burn out, fail and then my future career prospects dwindle I have stayed where I am and am doing the training required to be ready for it because that kind of role is where I want to end up.

So don't say everyone would take the money.

I thought I made it quiet clear that I would not have. Regardless of circumstance he took more money for a job he couldn’t do, the exact same as my own situation so I don’t see how I would do anything different.

I'd honestly do the same thing as him. A lot of us thought that he needed a change to try to get back to his best after blowing the GF, it was worth a try at the time...especially when your salary goes up by another ~100%.

Might not have been 1.2m... media do tend to embellish! But it was the big signing of the year. Broncos couldn't match it and nor should they. 1 mill a year for Ben'crumbles under pressure' Hunt is fucking crazy. So is the Ash Taylor deal and the Milford deal while we're going... Smith and Thurston are the only players going around at the moment that are guys really worth that sort of money. The desperate clubs throwing massive deals at average players has got the whole recruitment business out of shape.
