NEWS Ben Ikin puts his **** on the block

Yes, this is why we were able to attract the class of players we had in the past. That said, we're not looking for clones of these players. We want the next generation to do it their way, but with the values that made the club great in the first place.

How concerned are you that this whole process of appointing a new CEO will drag on well into the offseason...?

Ikins right, leadership and decisive action to stop inflicting self harm was a few months ago...

I honestly don't have a handle on it. I'm sure the board can see restoring the old gang will bring back the fans in the short term, but I'm also sure they'll have reservations we're not hearing. I think most of us can accept Kevvie might not be the game's next supercoach. But he might the interim answer, and if he's guaranteed a free pass for one season, he knows it's his foot in the door to being an NRL coach. Whether it's long term at the Broncos or elsewhere. The trouble with the Smith combo is he has to know Cameron will be after his job, and the board will want him to get it. There's also the risk that Smith will cut his teeth at the Broncos and look for the door if he's not elevated within a couple of years.

Michael Hagan, the most successful "assistant" coach in origin history springs to mind

Which leads to the interesting question of why he never got another gig, didn't he win a premiership in his first year?

God they interrupted him a lot. Frustrates the hell out of me when media people dont let each other finish their sentences and thought processes
With Kenty always shouting "no, let me finish" regardless of whether he's interrupting someone else

He ran Parra into the ground, didn't he? He wasn't great with roster management as a head coach it seems.

Roll with what you know...

Everyone knows Walters has coveted this job for years....

I have heard absolutely nothing about Brisbane and Cam Smith...whihc arguably means nothing is actually happening in this space potentially...

If Walters gets the place going gangbusters next year......why is Cam Smith needed..?

I think the ONLY reason Ikin appears good for the role is because he has to be better than the current pot plants ruining the joint. I am not convinced by this gossip queen and his News Ltd company man credentials.

One big item missing is that the outgoing CEO doesn't seem to care about the football results. Pretty sure Ikin cares. He can see it will hurt the bottom line soon enough. I found it interesting that they're still saying Broncos don't do rebuilds. An instant turn around is going to be extremely difficult even with a roster cleanout. It's finding/ importing what we need that will be a challenge.

Yep nothing is happening, at the Broncos this year, the media know everything before even the club knows.

Unless the club gets as 'lucky' as the Roosters did and a SBW, Keary, Jennings and one other decent player suddenly become available in the post-season.

The only problem is we're going to
Can you blame him?
Yeah this... Gordie may love sticking the boot into the club at the moment but so does half of this forum. He's just calling it like he see's it and I really can't disagree with many of his assertions.
