He was bought in to get them to the next level. The next level is a premiership. He isnt all about rebuilding clubs from the ground up. He is about winning comps. If he doesnt win a comp this year, were they any better off with him as coach compared to Seibold?Failed is a stretch. They're on their way to third consecutive top 4 spot and are head and shoulders the third best team (lol). Running into these two teams that are currently at the top and unable to unseat them doesnt make him a failure - the panthers are doing something that is fucking freakish and probably wont be replicated for a long time and the storm are just the storm.
Look at where we are after Seibold and answer that question mate.He was bought in to get them to the next level. The next level is a premiership. This isnt a question for what Seibold did at the broncos, more about how Seibold was going at the rabbits compared to where Bennett has got them too. Seibold left him with a top 4 finish the prior year. Bennetts normally seen as the finishing touches to a title and souths would have been hoping that was the case as well and it hasnt panned out.Look at where we are after Seibold and answer that question mate.
****, I wish we were failing like the Rabbits. If I'm going to be brutally honest, Bennett has failed at souths in his time. When he took that team over they were more then primed for a grand final tilt and he has fallen in the semis the last 2 years and I really cant see souths unseating the Storm or the panthers either this year. He has had Walker, Reynolds, Cook and Mitchell all in their prime with a more than capable backline and decent forward pack and hasn't looked like threatening to run away with a title.
Speak what you may with regards to our 2015 run, beside the very handily additions of Blair and Boyd on his watch, the team was pretty much Hooks mould in the lead up to that run.
He got a worse team to about the same place. Cook gained a kicking game as well. It's almost like teams learn to read players better the more they play. I know BHQ doesn't like to admit that Bennett is doing a good job these days but these are really dishonest takes.Look at where South’s are compared to when AS was there. No change, except for nullifying Cook and Murray.

To be fair, Souths' two best players, Inglis and Burgess, were lost from the squad, so the fact that he hasn't actually gone backwards is proof for me that he has had a positive effect.
Were either Inglis or Burgess much good in Seibold's season there?
I don't recall in enough detail, but for sure Burgess' aggression and ability to dominate others has been well documented since.
Yeah. And those players left, and Bennett was able to attract like for like players in their position. To be fair, Souths' two best players, Inglis and Burgess, were lost from the squad, so the fact that he hasn't actually gone backwards is proof for me that he has had a positive effect.
Pretty sure Inglis was playing mostly left center, because he was really starting to breakdown at that pointWere either Inglis or Burgess much good in Seibold's season there?

I get we have fallen off a cliff since Bennett left but how can people put that on him? There was an article about our round 1 team for next year and saying that only 1 player (Staggs) is likely to remain from Wayne’s last team.
Honestly I haven't watched but yeah I meant Mitchell for Inglis and Arrow for Surgess.Even if it was argued Mitchell is on pay with Inglis, I can't see anyone in their pack that they recruited that is remotely close to Burgess. Their pack is pretty frikken ordinary, made of mostly toilers. Arrow has been invisible (even when not injured) and can't make the starting team, Su'a is not even close.

If their pack is ordinary they're doing well to be beating everyone outside of the Storm & the Riff, must be some decent coaching going on.
Didn’t we also have a lot of injury issues with pies as coach?I’m not sure, but wasn’t Burgess out/injured for a lot of that year?
