Look I love throwing the old ‘female player to play position x’ joke as much as the next person, and yes it’s in jest 99% of the time.
There’s no one seriously expecting any of these girls to be able to match it physically with the men. Don’t get me wrong it’d be interesting to see if anyone could, but odds-on it will just never happen.
The point is it’s all relative.
Upton has been killing it since she debuted, and especially for a touch player she’s doing outstanding. Ali has been the best player in the game for years now and it shows.
The prompt behind people saying stuff like this is kind of two sides of the same coin
Relatively speaking, these players are playing their positions better than their male counterparts, sometimes by a country mile. And they’re semi-pro at best.
It also shows how poorly the men are going that people continue to pose putting the girls in their place because they actually put in like they want to be there and play to win. They may not be as fast or as strong or as skilled, but they don’t die wondering, and that wins fans. If the men were playing as well as they could, then of course no one would be making threads like this.
And sure there’s a lot of factors the men have that the women don’t in our particular case, but the point remains and is exactly what Kevvie is talking about since he became coach.
If you don’t like the women’s game, then don’t watch it. But don’t come into threads badmouthing it or dismissing what they’re doing, because for a team that only plays 4 games a year, they have been doing a FAR better job of being Broncos than most of the men in the last couple of years
