As much as I am not a Boyd fan, your comment reflects just how brainwashed people are today.

By merely comparing men and women's sport as anywhere near equal is about as ridiculous as you can get.

I'll give you one example. Did you know that the women's world record for 100m has stood for over 25 years (Florence Griffith-Joyner) at 10.49 seconds.

Typically, hundreds of school boys under 16 break that mark every year - year in-year out.

And as we know, the world champion women's soccer team (which received so much fanfare in the press) was beaten by an under 15 boys team in their preparation.

Women aren't even in the ballpark (so to speak) when it comes to high-level sports performance.

People are referring to the effort levels mate.

Sorry ... but there is no comparison. Effort. Strength.

How to you compare "effort" between games that are half the pace?

Frankly I find women's rugby league and AFL embarrassing to watch.

If ever the best women's player was given a gig in a men's team, I think you would see what I mean.

There's a very good reason why this has never been suggested - and its to do with NOT DYING.

There were times this year where Boyd looked like the only player putting in any effort. I love women’s footy and think this Broncos team is amazing, but this forum can get fucked if they’re going to continue to turn every single thread into an anti-Boyd thread even after his retirement. It was done enough during his career.

You can only compare players with their peers. It’s like any sport men’s or women’s. Would Clive Churchill be as good if you put him in today’s game? **** no, not only would he look awful but he would most likely die. Does that make his achievements any less? Absolutely not.

There is nothing embarrassing about the women’s games and the only thing that is embarrassing is your attitude.

This entire thread is comparing Boyd to Upton, why won’t you respond similarly to that?

I thought I already did sorry, but to make it clear I think Upton puts in far more effort, support plays and stronger running compared to Boyd over the last 2 years.

The misogyny from some members is disheartening.
There would absolutely be women players in the wnrl that are better than some players in the nrl. I’m sure tamika Upton would be better than quite a few nrl players.

one of my bff’s was an elite runner, she was national champion back in the day. When she met her hubby he was impressed but said “but you wouldn’t be faster than me” lol. She challenged him to a race and absolutely killed him. She’d beat 95% of men she’s so fast. She’s just never gonna be as fast as the elite blokes. Same as the women. They’d never compete with the stars, but some of your average first graders aren’t fit to lace their boots.

for eg, 100% Brigginshaw is a better player than Croft. Put her in the team full time and she’s probably a better option than him. But she’s not gonna be a better option than a good nrl player.

That seems to be really unfair against Croft, the women’s game is so much slower than the NRL you can’t really draw comparisons between the two.

Why is it misogynistic?

Sure, a top female athlete will probably smoke most jubs off the street at their physical activity of choice but it’s been proven time and time again that there are very few sports/athletics in which a professional female athlete can compete with professional male athletes. It’s biology. No one is questioning the things the women can control like work ethic, perseverance and dedication.

This isn’t a topic I really care about but it’s a discussion forum and this thread is focused on how a woman would be a better first grade choice in the men’s team than other options. It’s just not true from a results stand point. You can argue she’d try harder all you want, and I’m sure it could be true. But I’d rather a team with a better chance of winning than of a better chance of trying hard.

You’ve made a lot of posts about a topic you apparently don’t care about.

One of the dragons prop from the women’s game yesterday did a 60 metre torpedo kick down field that pulled up in the in goal perfectly. Can Milford or dearden do that?

And just because some people don’t choose to suspend reality doesn’t mean they are a misogynist lmao

Look I love throwing the old ‘female player to play position x’ joke as much as the next person, and yes it’s in jest 99% of the time.

There’s no one seriously expecting any of these girls to be able to match it physically with the men. Don’t get me wrong it’d be interesting to see if anyone could, but odds-on it will just never happen.

The point is it’s all relative.

Upton has been killing it since she debuted, and especially for a touch player she’s doing outstanding. Ali has been the best player in the game for years now and it shows.

The prompt behind people saying stuff like this is kind of two sides of the same coin

Relatively speaking, these players are playing their positions better than their male counterparts, sometimes by a country mile. And they’re semi-pro at best.

It also shows how poorly the men are going that people continue to pose putting the girls in their place because they actually put in like they want to be there and play to win. They may not be as fast or as strong or as skilled, but they don’t die wondering, and that wins fans. If the men were playing as well as they could, then of course no one would be making threads like this.

And sure there’s a lot of factors the men have that the women don’t in our particular case, but the point remains and is exactly what Kevvie is talking about since he became coach.

If you don’t like the women’s game, then don’t watch it. But don’t come into threads badmouthing it or dismissing what they’re doing, because for a team that only plays 4 games a year, they have been doing a FAR better job of being Broncos than most of the men in the last couple of years
