I think that's an assumption that people are making should we sign Smith. IIRC nothing remotely like that has been said officially.

Exactly. The official line is that Parker and Hodges are our captains from now until whenever, however the media seems to have convinced themselves that we have signed Smith so are claiming it is only for 1 year until he arrives

i find it interesting to read about the concern with the image factor of rob lui, he would be a perfect fit with ben barba... I still don't know how or why the broncos chased him so hard... Here is something a lot of people may not know, barba was cut by the broncos as a teenager whilst living in his home town of mackay for issues unknown to the general public, seems as though the only thing that changed was he made it to the top so all is forgotten now.... read what you like into that.

Lui was found guilty of assault, Barba wasn't. I'm guessing he was let go for similar reasons to Gagai, and I'd definitely have Gagai back too.

And yeah, Barba and Gagai are good players, while Lui kinda...isn't.

I think the Broncos had him on a scholarship that had him getting paid whilst he was at school and he left school to play for Wynnum instead of finishing high school and the Broncos still paid him until his scholarship was up in which case the Bulldogs took over his development.

Barba and or his dad said that he didn't kick on through our system because they thought him too small. He wasn't offered a contract at the end of a scholarship. Very different to being sacked for disciplinary reasons. Don't know where on earth this rumour came from.

The bloke who tattoos me grew up in Mackay and said that barba + crew beat up the best part of his group of friends growing up. He also tattooed DCE sisters nipples lol (I know, fucking ouch right?!) Said he was a menace back in the day. That doesn't bother me though. I don't condone that sort of behaviour but I did some things back in the day that I'm not proud of. Barba has been great since signing and hasn't done wrong by me so he has my support

I'm not sure you read my post correctly, I said I'm NOT holding it against him, in any way at all. Firstly, it could well be a lie and secondly it has nothing to do with me personally so I couldn't give 2 shits who he picked on or punched. I love Benny barba (no homo)

One thing is for sure though, we can be safe in the knowledge that talanoa has never done anything wrong, especially not when he was a teenager
