Broncos pair cautioned by police

Who's saying Michaels or Kenny should be sacked for this? I think fine is sufficient, my gripe is people who continue to bitch and moan about the media, or society caring about celebrities.

They do.

But feel free to tell everyone what they should and shouldn't care about.

Exactly - I haven't called for their sacking and a fine is sufficient in this case. However the effect of bad publicity does also have to be a factor in determining the level of punishment - it is the club who are losing money because of the publicity. The fines usually metered out to players are pretty piddling (pardon the pun) as a percentage of their overall salary, so they don't really lose a lot - and even if the club does get rid of them in most cases another club will pay them just as much (although I am happy to see the NRL being more pro-active in de-registering players in serious incidents to help prevent this).

Nope. You're perfectly entitled to think it's a non-issue. All I'm doing is (repeatedly) pointing out that it IS an issue to the people that count - sponsors, club officials, and some (who knows the percentage?) spectators and merchandise buyers.

Obviously it isn't an issue to the club officials as there has been no punishment... retard.

Admin will no doubt warn you about that pretty soon.

However, if it wasn't an issue why would they release a statement saying:

“We were advised very early this morning that there may have been
occasion for police to talk to two of our players over the weekend,†said
Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen.
“I immediately began enquiries, and that involved speaking to the two
players involved and the Superintendant in charge of policing that
district.
“He confirmed two players were spoken to on Saturday night and that
they were co-operative, apologetic and remorseful.
“However we are extremely disappointed that the players put themselves
in that situation. We are constantly reminding the players about
acceptable levels of behaviour and the dangers of socialising, especially
in unfamiliar territory.
“Therefore we will be dealing with the matter internally by disciplining the
players involved.

“Once again, we are reminding players and representatives of the club
not to put themselves in these types of situations.â€Â

Not an issue, but we'll discipline our players. Love your logic.

That is a generic press release that needs to be put out when the media is on a beat-up campaign. It is all part of the process and means nothing. Come on man, you gotta realise that?

... Begins to post ... Thinks... Yawns ... Zzzzzzzz

i think we should just have polls for these types of things

Prove it.

If they already covered up previous incidents (or at least tried), it's entirely possible they could just be saying they'll discipline the players, without really meaning it. It's one thing to discipline players to appease public opinion, but it's a totally different thing to do it because you actually beleive they need disciplining. Broncos management can't exactly come out and say they are going to do nothing about the incident - that would just add more fuel to the fire.

This argument has as much merit as the argument of us not knowing what's in the code of conduct. You have no idea what happens at management level.

You're right - I don't. I'm not saying that's what they are doing. I'm speculating and saying it's possible based on the past conduct of the club. You said the players DID break the code of conduct by putting themselves in the situation they did.

Putting yourself in a situation like this is against the Broncos code of conduct.

It's that simple.

Has anyone thought that maybe the incidents were minor?

Eye twitching....
Fists clenching....
Lips quivering....
Knuckles cracking....

No, it's just not worth trying to repeat again that IT DOESN'T **** MATTER THAT THE INCIDENTS ARE MINOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but I mean. Kenny pissed on a wall, and Michaels slapped a car. It's not a big deal.
Yea, its not...

I'm guessing you two don't go out a whole lot. Police warnings are as minor as the cop telling you to pull your socks up and going off to do something else.

Nashy goes doooooooown.

Hardly.

I would assume based on previous interviews and problems the club and the NRL have had, that bringing the club into disrepute, which has been done, is in there.

I could be wrong. But like you, I could be right.
