Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

I seem to be one of the very few Titans fans not sold on Fogarty as yet. I agree with Foordy in that he really has benefitted from Taylor improving. I'd argue that he is becoming more comfortable and starting to contribute more now as he develops at NRL level but realistically chuck him in instead of Croft at the start of season and he would've struggled to do a better job. Currently due to this years experience and growth, he may be a better option but start of the year.... na. His on field leadership is a bonus but again that develops with time in a team and would've been difficult for anyone to rally your boys at times, especially a fresh face. I need to see Croft have a few games in a Broncos team with some attempt at structure before I rule him out completely. Don't know if he'll get a chance at that next year though with Milf and Dearden being more appeasing options.

Just on Niu, I don't think he looked out of his depth at all. To me he looked like a talented kid trying to learn the ropes in the key position of FB and for mine he did ok in that context. I liked his positional play and his energy - he has the right instincts in support, especially coming up behind the ruck, and he covered at the back pretty well for someone with no NRL game time. I think he is definitely worth a shot at the back. I feel his baptism of fire so to speak was a positive, despite the shitty coaching that saw him at the back in the first place. Clouds and silver linings for me.

I thought he was very ordinary. Didnt offer much in attack and driven back in pretty much every tackle. He certainly doesnt warranty the kind of hype he was given both in the press and on here by some people. He is nowhere even close to Karmichael Hunt when he debuted. As i said at the time though, he was badly let down by getting thrown into the side when he was nowhere near ready with barely any experienced players around him to help him out. Coates is very similar, has potential, but needs a good year or two in ISC to develop. This obsession with people wanting to throw in every promising kid who gets a newspaper article written about them is very misguided. Anyone with any brains new it was a recipe for disaster, and sadly, those of us who said it were right.

Yeah, I tend agree. Niu looked like he had a lot of natural ability and has a good enthusiasm about his game, but I didn’t see anything that made me think we aren’t still short a first grade fullback going into next year.

Where you blokes finding your $$$ Don? You've just signed Patrick Herbert from the Warriors. Wouldn't have cost much but still. Are you looking at letting Corey Thompson go by any chance? Assuming Herbert will be vying for his position, or possibly centre maybe. We need a fullback and Thompson could fit the bill.

You're missing the point. There was no ISC to develop in this year. Why would we want to waste our time keeping Boyd there when we could blood some talent and develop the future of the club. The season was screwed regardles.

Niu had some great touches in a horrible team.

No... You just did your usual.. Assuming you know who I am, how I think and what I know.. Trying to degrade me..

I was not hyping Niu up.. I have expressed my enthusiasm in the prospects for his future.. But I was never calling on Niu to come in and save the day or anything like that. I think all I have ever said is that he is very talented.

I like the fact that Seibold blooded a lot of young guys at least.. Now they will be better for the experience and the past couple of years weren't a complete waste.

I know full well you dont watch half these players you bang on about. You get your information from Badel and Youtube.

As for them being better for being thrown in, not all of them will be better for it at all. We have been flogged week in week out for most of the year and very few of them have stood up. Carrigan and Haas have, maybe Farnworth, but thats about it. It could very well take a toll on some of these guys. A good coach wouldnt have thrown them all in like Seibold did. It was utter stupidity and he lost his job over it. Like i said earlier, anyone with any brains would have seen it wouldnt work, and anyone who knows anything about rugby league would know it was a recipe for disaster.

I'm missing no point. They need to develop away from a team getting flogged every week. You might not like to hear it, but Boyd was the best fullback we had this year, he was streets ahead of anyone else and he was bang average.

You really have no idea on how young players need to develop. Throwing them all in at the deep end doesnt work. Some can handle it, others cant.

Hahaha you have no idea mate. I don't listen to NRL media. I make up my own mind on things. I am actually capable of that despite how you want to paint me.

I'm pretty certain Seibold didn't get a chance to construct a squad.. He was there for less than 2 seasons with the cap tied up in overrated players.

He tried to bring in players like Isaac Luke, Rhys Kennedy, Richie Kennar etc

I never said that it's the best idea. Seibs wasn't given much of a choice. Boyd is gone now and Niu has experience now.

I’m not saying they were good signings. I just said he tried to bring in experience with the little cap space he did have.
Richie Kennar has still played less than 30 first grade games. Rhys Kennedy has still only played 22 first grade games. Luke was a replacement for McCullough, who Seibs let go a few weeks earlier for some reason.

As I said earlier there is still a benefit of having players/people in the squad with real life experience outside of football. I reckon Milford needs a gap year to figure things out. Haha

Tino, Fifita and Ese'ese are amazing signings for them.
Not for the money they paid but they will definitely make them a better team, it's when the t boyds , Brimsons , sprys etc want the $$$. That's when they will have the repercussions of their spending.

Tbf , who wasn't ordinary? Only a few can hold their heads high , and the injuries caused some of the debuts. You can't disregard the fact that the only footy being played was first grade, so the sink or swim mentality was the only option. Hopefully next year we will see the ISC back and our youngster's can actually play week in week out
