Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

Signings like this (if true) and the JT13 for 10 years one should punish clubs if they go awry, but instead the NRL will step in and help out if say JT13 gets injured big time or leaves the club, or if the Titans start to finish bottom four consistently because they've sold the club out to a 22 year old just to spite the Broncos. I can see the Cows punting JT13 off to overseas union if they want to get rid of him, and the NRL will allow it to happen and refund the cap he was taking up.

Our game truly does have pathetic, spineless management.

We have to lock up paix long term if we dont get ash and wayne needs to pick him when he is ready , not rely on kodi

Any more back up halfs on the radar joe or we backing our young guys ?

I think the Brennan appointment if correct is a strong one. He’s done his time won the 20’s in 2013 and won the ISC premiership in 2014 and 2017 and the State title this year. He’s done his time. I spent some time at Panthers’ facility this season and he is very impressive. He bonds well and teaches. He’s very good with young players.

Over the last five years Panthers have gone from 5/25 in their NRL squad being local players to next year 24/30. At times this year they had 12/17 players in the NRL were from the 2013 and 2015 premiership Under 20’s side. He’s played a massive part in that. Their model and methods at producing young local talent are working.

He could be exactly what is needed on the Coast to tap into the local talent and keep it.

Jnik is on way too much money to come back. Apparently, roosters will be paying him close to 400k for the next year of his contract.
Not if the Roosters pay a good portion of his contract

Better than demetriou? Do you have any idea of the connection between him and Taylor? Cheers for the insight to , don't think Maguire would've been a good fit .

Demetriou's rise has been meteoric over the past few years. Was due a knock back. His time will come.

Good points but it could be a difficult sell to a market like the gold coast which doesn't really affiliate to any sport in particular.

Taking a rookie coach with good development principles appears to point towards a rebuild rather than immediate success. It will be interesting to see if the gold coast people embrace the concept of developing youth and whether the gold coast management have the appetite to withstand some potentially lean years.

Cmon surfing's a sport, night clubbing, people clubbing if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time (kind of like orienteering, with MMA mixed in when you get it wrong) ;)

@Smokin' Joe do you still think Ash is coming back to the Broncos

Armed robbery capital of Australia also.

No running game, no passing game...

Yeah Ash is a great player. If you compare him and JT or Cronk at the same age, Ash is a world above them tbh, and all the while being in a pretty dud team... I'm not saying he is as good as JT or Cronk, but he definitely has the potential to be one of the great halfbacks.

Foxsports.com.au can reveal the Titans have tabled Taylor a three-year-deal worth $3.2 million.

We certainly won't be able to match that money..

Our only hope is if Taylor is competitive and actually wants to win games.

I still find it interesting that pre season starts next month and Darius Boyd is still unsigned... Really hope this talk of him signing a 4 year, $4mil + deal is BS... He's so slow and just pittyful as a last line of defense. Maybe he will move to centre, prolong his career, and Jack Bird can go to FB...

I don't think we can win a premiership with Boyd at fullback to be honest. He just doesn't have enough X-factor. Is never there in support for offloads or anything, and is never going to break tackles and score a good individual try... Why pay $1 mil for someone who can just pass the ball?

X-Factor is overrated from the Fullback position, I'd happily trade a bit of speed for safety, defence and intelligence.

Take a look at the 4 Fullbacks that made the Semi-Finals this season.. Darius Boyd, Billy Slater, Michael Gordon & Lachlan Coote. I'd consider them all in the bottom 50% of NRL Fullbacks in terms of speed & x-factor (Slater might be up there), but in the top 5 for reliability.

That's not a coincidence.

Wait... Billy slater in bottom 50% of fullbacks for Xfactor? You're kidding yeah? The others, sure but to say Billy is ridiculous. Also, to imply those teams got there because they had safe fullbacks is ridiculous. Which team won the comp? Storm. They Have Billy Slater. Billy slater has xfactor. Xfactor wins big games.
