Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

Bulldogs give Klemmer a 3 year deal at about $350k/yr before his NRL debut. That's about the same money as $500k/yr with today's cap.

Haas would probably stay because of the Bennett factor but he won't play for peanuts. The Broncos need to sign both Haas and Bennett to long term deals.

Shouldn't you have thought of that before saying he's the best ISC front rower?

Neale has played 477 minutes of a possible 480 this year leading the metres gained for the ISC with 990, third on hit ups with 97 and fourth on tackles with 197.

Only missed 12 tackles.

Yet you claim Haas is above everyone else? He's not even the best front rower with Neale getting those performances.

You could have said, he's going well but above everyone; that's ridiculous. Without ever having seen him play too.

I love it when you resort to lying and putting words in my mouth to try and prove yourself. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Who said he was the best ISC front rower? That must've been something you imagined in your fit of rage that occurs when somebody has a differing opinion to your own.

I said, word for word, "they've proved they're several steps above the competition they're playing against", which is factually correct, as they're both in the very upper echelon of the competitions they're playing in. I never at any point said they were individually the best players in each respective competition, nor did I imply it. The numbers they're putting up week after week prove that they're in the 99th percentile in their comps, which is precisely my point. Fifita has scored 6 tries in the last 2 weeks in the MM Cup, Haas is constantly putting up extremely good numbers when you extrapolate the data to get a more realistic estimate of what his numbers would've been if he was playing starter minutes every week, in fact it's almost unarguable that they're not head and shoulders above the competition they're playing against.

Nat neale has been enormous this year. Every game i have seen him play he has ripped hard through the middle.
I know he is late in his career but if i were an nrl club looking for some depth off the bench i would sign this guy in a heartbeat.

wouldn't this line imply that they are the best in their competition ... since they are steps above their competition?

Not necessarily? The competition as a whole has a variety of level of players, from players who are park footballers and are just playing Queensland Cup to make up the numbers and have something to do, all the way to players who are the best for their age and aspiring to crack the NRL, there's a million steps. Being several steps above their competition simply says that they're well above the median, the very upper echelon of players, which nobody can argue. I'd love to see anyone name 5 middle forwards who are performing better statistically than Haas in the Intrust Super Cup or 5 edge forwards who are performing better statistically than Fifita in the Mal Meninga Cup.

I’d have to agree with you in this, I’d certainly deduce the same thing.

I think the issue is that you guys are misinterpreting my comment, I'm not saying they're "several steps above their competition" in the sense that they're several steps above the Intrust Super Cup, I'm saying competition as in the median competitor that they're up against.

For example I think someone like Mitchell Frei is pretty close to the "average" ISC forward, and Haas is quite clearly already several steps ahead of him as a footballer. I didn't think I had to clarify what I meant, but certain people will nitpick just about anything, won't they.

You could even put Carrigan in a similar category, he's already much better than a middle of the field guy like Frei.

Mitchell Frei - 6 games, 10 hit-ups per game, 93 metres per game, 1 offload.
Patrick Carrigan - 6 games, 8.5 hit-ups per game, 111 metres per game, 6 offloads.

All he's trying to say is that Haas is one of the best forwards in the comp, going off his stat's which is correct, making him a level above most of the competition he is competing against.

You could have just said "above ISC average"... but that would mean absolutely nothing in terms or justifying their selection into FG at such tender age.

Note that I am not disagreeing with you about their quality, and I am sure the likes of Haas, Carrigan and Fifita will eventually make their way into FG, although I wouldn't start them. Forwards are often slow to mature, killing it one game, floundering the next.
I have absolute confidence in how Wayne goes about bringing forwards through the ranks.

Not Broncos related but Just read that Moga is needing dual knee reconstructions

Not at all funny, poor guy.
But as soon as I read your comment, I couldn’t help but think of South Park...

Never rated the guy I'll be honest but that is a damn shame, hope he can recover from it for his sake.

You're kidding yourself if you think he won't get around that.

Yeah and hopefully at another club. Some of the best front rowers in the game are only getting that money just now

Poor guys. Played the whole season last year for min wage without injury. Signs a big deal with another club for 3 years I think and first couple of games bang does his ACL for like the 4th time.

Knights are going to have a good chunk of salary cap waisted on him for a while. I can’t see him coming back anywhere near 100%

Junior Paulo just got $700k a year for 4 years and he's barely keeping a first grade spot at Canberra. If the price is $500k a year for 3 years for the most sought after young forward in the game, I think I'm okay with that. Obviously it'd be great if he signed for slightly less out of good faith, but that's up to him, his management & the Broncos to work out.

If we think he's going to be a star, we have to keep him. Or maybe we can secure a couple of cheaper but also really talented guy instead (Flegler? Carrigan?). Or can we do all of them?

Think we try and keep all 3 of those, realistically Haas is probably the only one of those 3 guys who will be asking for more than the minimum, purely because of the hype around him. We've already locked up Fifita until 2020, so hopefully we got him at a decent price.
