Trouble with this guy he is a penalty magnet. Think he has scored the most points for the pussy cats but also has the most errors. However certainly puts his heart and sole into his job. We could do worse.

NRL refs have KPIs and rarely dish out uneven counts, so who cares who gives away penalties? At the end of the day you're 100% going to cop them anyway.

Maloney's turnstile like defence is the worry, but Niko isn't exactly Tunza in D.

I'm pretty sure Panthers may just be thinking they need to keep two of Cleary, Luai and May. They also want Peachey to backflip on the Titans. That's 4 potential spine players. Maloney is old and he was brought in to win a comp this year or next.. Panthers would be smart to move him on a year early in order to hold on to their future.

I think titans may have finally indicated that they're running out of cap.

There was a big player rumoured to be on the market recently (can't remember who it was) and Brennan was on TV indicating that they would struggle to fit them under their cap.

Plus I doubt Maloney leaves Sydney.

Issue is a lot of Sydney teams are feeling the cap pressure, otherwise dogs and manly could be a possible location

Well they have Wallace and Boyd on over 700k for starters, throw in the other blokes they have on insane overs (headlined by Taylor and Cartwright), and it wouldn't shock me. Them even sniffing around for quality players is a bit unbelievable, especially when they have AJ Brimson who will get money thrown at him when he's off contract.

DCE would show up in Broncs colours, he’d be in a premiership quality team year in and year out but to do so, he’d need to take a massive pay cut.

Unlikely for sure but not impossible if he decides that now he has already made a fortune, success might not be a bad way to spend the last few years of his career.

I couldn't disagree more. If it were Maloney 4 years ago I'd say maybe, but he's a very old 32. The only scenario I would've considered the signing is if we needed a goal kicker still, but, we don't.

Maloney - 19 games, 3 tries, 9 try assists, 10 line-break assists, 9 offloads, 12.4 tackles per game @ 61% efficiency
DCE - 23 games, 8 tries, 13 try assists, 14 line-break assists, 15 offloads, 18.6 tackles per game @ 84% efficiency

Stats speak for themselves, especially the defensive ones, Maloney is 50% worse than the next worst defender in the NRL, and that's no exaggeration, he's missed 144 tackles this season in 19 games. I wouldn't sign him if he wanted to come for minimum wage.

My mistake... I forgot that halves a re judged on their defence ...

No need to recruit a new half then .... we have got plenty of backrowers we can use instead
