I guess this means Kahu is staying put at the club.
Also might be interesting to see the knock on effect with Oates too. All early indicators point to him staying put

STATE of Origin winger Corey Oates is getting closer to securing his NRL future after switching managers mid-season.
The 23-year-old towering flyer has openly acknowledged his desire to play in the back-row, yet despite reported interest from other clubs he’s not yet signed a deal.
Oates parted ways with management company Gillis Schifcofske Sports Management and has now signed on with SFX Australia.
Foxsports.com.au believes Oates is now keen to remain with the Broncos, and is hopeful of agreeing to a new deal now with SFX in his corner.
SFX managing director George Mimis told foxsports.com.au the agency will sit down with Oates on Friday to urgently discuss the player’s future.

The dramatic switch comes as Oates desperately searches for a new deal just weeks out from the end of the current season.
His Broncos contract is expired and he’s yet to commit his future beyond 2018.
Brisbane CEO Paul White has not returned phone calls from foxsports.com.au in relation to Oates’ contract situation.
It was reported last month Canterbury had put an $800,000 offer on the table and the Bulldogs were prepared to let him play in the back-row, as he has stated he wants to do.
That deal is believed to have broken down.
A number of other NSW clubs were also reportedly showing interest in Oates.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has repeatedly stated he wants Oates to remain on the wing if he is to stay at Red Hill, which could impact the price of his services.
Mimis explained influential Broncos figure Gene Miles has been working closely with Oates in relation to his future in the game.
Miles is the father of Oates’ partner, and could play a key role in getting the winger a fresh Broncos deal.
Interestingly, the Broncos have reportedly agreed to release Tom Opacic to the Cowboys.

Wouldn't be so sure on Kahu.

Disregard

Current Bronco winger/backrower :sisi1

I just went through all of the players on our roster and can't think of a single player who's a winger & backrower apart from Oates..

Getting pretty over these 1 year deals for Oates, can we just sign the log for 3 or 4 years to stop the speculation for a few months?
Where did you get a 1 year deal from, i haven't even seen any speculation about the length of a potential contract

" the Broncos have decided to release him from his contract and allow him to switch to the struggling Cowboys."

:aplastao:I had a chuckle.........it makes us sound like the successful older brother in the family who took pity on our boozy, deadbeat, slacker of a brother and flicked him a couple of bucks to help him get on his feet. :risas3:

I thought near the same thing when I read it. It will be nice to progress further than the Cowboys for a change. It has rarely happened in the past 15 years.

TBH if Oates wanted another one year deal I could live with it. Players give everything during contract years so getting a player who wants to keep going one year after another on one year deals is good for the club short term. Imagine if a few other players in the team were on one year deals. They would be playing a lot more better I reckon

I'm torn on whether Opacic is any good or not. In QCup he'll have long spells of doing not much, but then will do something that indicates he's better than QCup level.

injuries have held him back for sure though.

I've seen enough of him over the years to think he is capable of being a solid NRL player. He lacks acceleration which doesnt help him, but at the same time he isnt slow, he is just slow to get up to his full pace, and he isnt as dynamic as somebody like Staggs or Shibasaki for example. He's come up with some big plays though when he has needed to for Redcliffe this year. He is a really good ball player as well which we dont see a lot of with how we play him. People have short memories though, he was really good playing injured when he first got into the team, but his willingness to play when he shouldn't has probably hampered his career with Brisbane in some ways. He just needs a run of games to get up to speed, which i just dont think he will get here.

He's never going to be a topline player, but you cant have a club full of topline players either. I think he is a good pick up for them.
