Smith is exactly what we need IMO. A leader - a true leader. In reality, with that leader to push our consistency, we're top 4 even with the squad we've got. Our forwards get us to the other end of the paddock in 9 games out of 10, and with a real leader calling the shots, even our average halves would do well enough. Add an X-factor like Barba and we're genuine premiership material.

Can't see him leaving the Storm for the basket case we've become though. Although, they do seem to be slipping this year..

those four burgess brothers are going to become pretty difficult to fit within the cap, very soon. george has been a gun this year and tom in two games has shown he's not far off the mark either. i read a theory that hte only reason he hasnt played more nrl yet is to keep his price down. i could easily see other clubs offering either of htem big dollars immediately. then you got luke who i think is just coming back from long term injury.

souths already have.. inglis.. sutton.. luke... reynolds.. teo... mcqueen... then 4 X Burgess.. merritt... none of those guys are going to be cheap pretty soon

Won't happen, it's a furphy, smith is just greasing the wheels for his final contract. Broncos have put too much faith in McCullough to replace him with someone on the wrong side of 30. Similar situation with Thurston, something would have to change off the field at the club for it to even be a reality of happening and there are no indications of that happening IMO.

Wouldn't be a bad move, if Barba doesn't come to the Broncos he would be a really good option at fullback.
