It may all hinge on what Milford is doing. If he doesn't come, Barba to the halves and Hoffman stays at fullback. If he comes, he goes into the halves, Barba at fullback and Hoffman left-right-out.
If Hoffman doesn't want to do the team thing then he get lost and won't be missed. However, if this is all a media beat up, I feel sorry for the guy. However, he does seem to be unhappy and can't wait to see Sticky and Canberra get up in arms about this situation...oh wait, we'll be hearing serves you rights.
Is that 400k figure right? If so it'd only be worth it if he a) was in 2010 form or b) stayed on the wing and scored a try every game. Anything less is not worth it. I know everyone's base is going up but it's still too much imo
Given the fact that the Dogs lost a player who was being paid $300k and we are losing a player who is being paid $400k, (on a straight money arrangement 300k is 3/4 of 400k) I reckon the compensation package ought to be:
1. cancel compensation offered to the Dogs in relation to Barba (including repaying any amounts already expend by Brisbane);
2. whatever we were offering them, divide it by three and then they have to give that it us.
For example, if we were paying $600k to them, they'd now receive nothing and they'd have to pay us $200k.
This reflects the fact that they are now being compensated by receiving a player that is worth more than the one that they lost.
The sad thing about this, if ture, is that Hoffman could become one of the best wingers in the league. He only has to look at what has happened to Beale at the Dragons of chasing a position can do - he's now stuck behind Dugan.
