Where did I say we had excellent recruitment?
You're the one bleating about poor recruitment!
Still waiting to hear about these opportunities we have been missing on... Care to name a few? One maybe?

Hi guys, first time poster, been lurking for a few weeks....

I'm not quite as negative as some on our recruitment but i think it is lacking, especially the last 2 years or so. To answer the qusetion above, here is a list i can think of of players that have been off contract in the last 2 years that i think would have improved our squad:
Dean Whare
Junior Sau
Beau Ryan (better than Maranta imo)
Michael Gordon
Justin Horo
Richie Fa'aoso
Dane Nielson
Aiden Guerra
Krisnan Inu
James Maloney
James Segeyaro
James Roberts
Anthony Cherrington
Konrad Hurrell
Michael Jennings
DCE
Keiran Foran
Edrik Lee
Jack wighton
Jarrod Croker
Blake Ferguson
TLL
Dave Shillington
Andrew Fifita
Nate Myles
Aiden Sezer
Matt Srama
Jorje Taufua
Will Chambers
Sisa Waqa
Ben Matulino
Trent Merrin
Kane Linnett
Tariq sims
Josh Mansour
Chris McQueen
Tautau Moga
Sam Kasiano
Martin Tapau
Anthony Milford
Josh Papali

I understand we cannot sign all of them but to me they are all better options than Stagg/Prince/Civo/Kemp. If we didnt at least ask about most of these players there are potential issues with recruitment, if we asked and they said no, there are massive issues with the management of the club.

Cheers,

gagai got sacked? he didn't leave for a better opportunity.

Im sick of saying of this but he was never sacked.
All you clowns think I was talking shit last season but as usual I am right.

Coach Anthony Griffin showed how crucial culture was to his Broncos last year when he told Dane Gagai he would not play first grade that season and could leave.

Gagai reportedly had an attitude problem and made a series of minor breaches of the club's code of conduct.

There are many things to be disappointed about I feel. It still irks me that we were somewhat willing to sign Dugan but weren't willing to persevere with Gagai for what seem to be lesser offences.

Given we were willing to sign Dugan (a fact I applaud) it for me undermines the reasons why Gagai was allowed to leave. Why wasn't hook willing to do for Josh what he wasn't for Dane?

And again, I still don't think Prince was a good idea. For mine hunt has not been given a fair go, no matter how much Porthoz thinks that he should have taken the trials by storm.

So he left because he fucked any chance he had of playing first grade at Brisbane..

So others are half right, he didn't leave for a better opportunity... he left to have one after fucking up at Brisbane.

There ya go, head on over there and carry on about the idiot all you want. Put simply he had a chance at Brisbane but he fucked it up, Griffin then told him the hard fact that he would not be given the time of day anymore and allowed him to leave. He packed his bags and his balls and grabbed the first chance he got where he by the looks of it has now got his act together and is playing consistent first grade footy.

The even better thing is we all now win, Brisbane don't have his attitude, the Knights have a guy who got the wake up call he needed and is now playing the footy he was suspected of being able to play and the best one of all is you can now pull yaself over him actually being on a team.

Stop dragging every fucking topic back to the story of a player who at the time wasn't a first choice winger/centre or fullback at the club and there for wasn't worth the attitude.

As for Dugan and why it's ok for him to be hired yet Gagai released. Simple, Dugan didn't **** up at the Broncos he fucked up at the Raiders. If other clubs turned players away because of their history at other clubs half the league would be in France.

Gagai wouldn't be a Knight, Carney wouldn't be a Shark, Mason wouldn't be back, SBW wouldn't be back, Inglis wouldn't be at the Rabbitohs. The list goes on.

Name one!

Widdop, Chased him club didn't want to match what the Dragons offered.. questionable and people will debate for ages about worth but fact is he was there we chased him but didn't feel the need to pay overs. Can see both points.
Dugan, Chased him he fucked up fair enough.
Carney, He was never leaving the Sharks everyone knew that.
Farah, Again was never leaving the Tigers so what's the point?

Albert Kelly...
Could build for the future with him, however will he hold form and will he take a decent amount?
Ryan Stig.... I like him, However he doesn't offer anything that Hunt/Capewell and others at the club don't already offer.

There are a fair few forwards, however we don't need forwards there are none that would change the club enough to warrant chasing when you consider Money to talent ratio.

On a random tangent, we should sign Edrick Lee, that kid is gonna be the next big thing.

Name one!

In terms of potential willingness to leave their club and signing elsewhere, and also that meets our needs, then obviously James Maloney. For mine he's been the buy of the season (along with SBW). He would have solved a lot of our issues.

For the record, I'm delighted we didn't sign Soward and was never sold on Widdop and am actually glad we did not sign him. I also don't blame our club for not signing outside backs - we were willing to back Yow Yeh which I am more than able to understand and Copley was an unfortunate injury.

In those regards, I am quite happy with the inactivity we have shown in the transfer market. I just wished we continued to show it in regards to Prince.

Hopefully the club shows some good intent. We obviously need a fullback, half and probably an outside back, and we should more than have enough money to fill a couple of those needs, even if it is as Pete says, by buying the up and coming players.

Sign him and his younger brother. Sick of the Raiders and Storm getting the cream of the crop from QLD.

Well said mate

Signed until the end of 2014 so it gives time to keep an eye on him.
Honestly, the first time I saw him play (which was the U20's Origin last year) I thought to myself - this is the Wendell Sailor/Lote Tuquiri prototype we have been looking for since.. well, them!

He has absolute speed to burn and once he fills out a bit more, man, he is gonna be something.

Not sure about his younger brother, haven't seen him in action. brenko I think his name is?

Because Dane was given many chances and didn't pull his act together, so he definitely needed a change of environment, same reason why I originally supported chasing up Dugan. I don't get what is so difficult about this...

You do understand the meaning of the word trials, don't you? He didn't need to take them by storm, just outperform Norman in the first place, and Prince in the second place. But yeah, I guess we shouldn't have brought competition for poor old Hunt at all... :001_rolleyes:

Brenko is his name. He is a big unit playing in the centres.

He signed with the chooks so long ago at a time when our plan was still full steam ahead backing our young guns and didn't have the need to chase anyone.
