Broncos player retention

I for one am looking forward to a post bennett period, this season has died and players look like they would love to be starting over again.

WB sunk the club with his choice to leave early, he should have stayed quiet or walked out, but as it stands the club is being ripped to bits. The old guys look tired like the broncos of old and the young players look to have lost heart.

WB has made shocking selections and put the club back a mile, he offers no game plan and seemingly no ability to motivate any more. Perhaps his heart isn't in it any more or his brand of coaching just doesn't get it done any more.

You have to do more than just recruit good players and chuck them out there, which has sadly been his style for years. He is by a country mile the best recruiting coach EVER, but he then seems to just leave it to the players to make up the rest. Give it time the club will fail to attract the good players and holding the ones we already have will be impossible.

That's a bit defeatist? Season is far from over and provided the boys spark after Origin like they were in the first 8 rounds it should be okay?

I'm with Caniffe here. It has a bit of an '06 feel. The team seems to be cruising at the moment with the coach's blessing with the knowledge that when everyone's back and Origin is done with, the run to the semis will kick in. I am an optimist, after all.

i hope you're right, i really do, but history suggests it may be other wise. we are riddled with injuries, out of form and have players exiting all over the place. I truely hope u are right though.

I don't have the 2003-5 "slump" feel in any case. We were travelling nicely (and the win -v- Parra underpins that) and with all players on deck you'd have to back them in for a good finish. The positive side really is our injuries are 2-3 week type jobs (ignoring Locky), and by the time we need him Hodges will return and you'd think he'd be fired up.

As I've said, i hope u are right, but our pack seems to have lost that sting they had early on, we're back to no off loads and between injuries and suspension we have pretty much no play makers. Our next win could well be the BY.

Broncos close in on Ben

It wasn't all doom and gloom following the Broncos' 34-16 loss to Canberra yesterday. Expect them to snap up boom Tigers back-rower Ben Te'o very soon. South Sydney will be furious because he was atop their shopping list. And the hard proof that you are never, ever buried in professional sport comes this week when Roosters veteran Craig Fitzgibbon - who turns 31 today - puts the finishing touches on a one-year extension.

he is a very classy player and if we can get him ill be stoked, cant believe the tigers are letting him go.......

their not. they have an offer on the table and have extended their deadline twice

How HOT will the Broncos be with Teo, Parker, Boyd, Wallace, Clinton in their line up...lol.

I'll believe it when I see it. Big League had a story this week saying he would sign with the Dragons

We must have plenty of back rowers especially if we signed Ben Te'o. we certainly won't be lacking in that area. i would be starting Thaiday at prop next year if thats the case. i think Thaiday could do really well in the front row

Yeah, Thaiday or even Sims in the front row. Nick Kenny has been playing pretty well there too. I think next year we'll probably have the weakest front row + front row replacements we've ever had, but it still isn't too bad. Our backrow is looking good though, especially if Te'O is as good as people here say he is (and providing he signs with us of course).

would be a huge signing, could replace TC at the back and be good running off Wallace and Locky. But who knows where he will sign.
