No but seriously , Bryce Cartwright and Shannon Boyd, out of the goodness of their hearts and for the good of the game on the gold coast REFUSED a payout to help the titans out.......coincidentally, the titans now have rich private owners, had to get bailed out by the NRL a couple years back, and the NRL want another team in SEQ and the titans would go broke if they arent successful when the new team comes in.
Other teams to have rich private owners:
Roosters, Souffs, storm, warriors.... they all seem to suck at golf too! But these are good, honest owners who made their way to the top without backroom dealings everyone...

Why not? There are a minimum of 3 people in the side currently who have done much worse things than him.
The bloke is an absolute gun and has lots of experience, also can play anywhere in the backline.

We are also the only team on the stock exchange and our parent company makes more money through bad press about us then a successful nrl club ever could...

Man you are incredible at missing the point, you have made it an art form.
Clearly they aren't better but they cost basically nothing. Compared to what Folau would cost and the drama he would bring signing him is a shit idea, which probably explains why you are all for it.

Aside from not playing nrl for years, fairly old and he's a declared homophobe so there's a few reasons. Add in the negative publicity and it kind of mounts up.

Nope not like signing Lodge. Lodge has apologised for what he did, changed his life and had spent years walking the straight and narrow before we signed him and has kept it up.

If he wasn't a flog I'd want him signed in a heartbeat. I have no doubt he could still be elite but he's not worth the headache.

FYI, on Folau, he has requested a meeting with NRL management (probably to cut down the red tape and convince clubs they aren't wasting their time)
The NRL have declined this request, effectively saying "go and get yourself an offer and come back to us; only then will we go though the process"
The SMH are also reporting that after Dragons pulled out of Folau deal, they contacted the remaining 15 clubs and every one of them said they had no interest in signing Folau, he is damaged goods and not worth the risk.

I mean, Folau is 31 so he's not ancient - we've got arguably the worst outside backs in the comp. We could use some class.

He played a handful of SL games and showed he is still a classy player, and has been the most dominant rugby player of the last 5+ years. The fact he is a cockhead will drive his price right down and make him affordable. If the sponsors are fine with Lodge, TPJ, Staggs and Kelly all in the side then Folau should be easy. Just need to release a statement saying the club disagrees with his views, but it's his right to have them. Slap a social media ban into his contract like they've done with TPJ and Bob's your fathers brother.
