Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

Niu is probably looking like a priority re-signing considering his versatility and the other guys off contract.
For mine....theres no way im entering talks to re-sign him currently.

What he needs to do, while he is in the run on side, is spend the time and effort during the week to improve his defence if hs future is as a centre.

Its a specialist position, you can see from the Titans games, teams love to isolate below average centres in defence and force them to make decisions. They have inside out runners, angled runners etc coming at them and he has to learn when to bite in defence, when to slide, when to stay etc...

Staggs is already a sieve in defence, for the balance of the backline we cant afford to have 2 in the centres.

Give Niu time to prove himself, dont go all in now....

Wayne would be coach though the way i'm thinking. I'm thinking of him coming back as coach ( only if Walters fails miserably this year ) with the bloke who is going to take over from him working alongside him. I think we need to give him that swansong to get beyond the shadow he casts over the club. You only have to look at the Origin camp last year to see the impact he has on players. I dont think its a perfect solution, but i do think its probably the best one we can hope for. We just have literally no star power on the roster like in the old days to bring players here.

This is the point for me. Unfortunately, I just can't see it happening after his last exit. He'll be scouted by the new expansion team in Brisbane IMO. The only way that I can see him coming back to us, is if the new team goes for and lands Bellamy. Even then, it's a long shot.

I’m merely suggesting re-signing him, not “going all in”.

Look at the different roster scenarios Brisbane could be facing for next year, we lose both or either Coates or Staggs and without Niu we have no flexibility in the roster.

I wouldn't read too much into it ... from what i understand, Kevvie doesn't have any input into what position players play when they are with our ISC affiliates.

Which is kind of pointless. There needs to be mutual benefits for feeders and NRL and agreement in what the NRL team needs and if it fits with the feeder team, otherwise move them to another. What’s the point of putting Corey on the wing if Kev wants him in the forwards (assuming that’s the case)

I still want a complete Broncos reserve grade side

Dearden look to play well for the 'Pies today. Better see him in the starting lineup or he'll end up like Walsh...

I doubt it’s just happened I reckon either Kevvie or Pates has pulled the pin on the change... if we can get him playing well on the wing again it’s hardly a bad thing

I mean you’re not wrong, it just happened to be the example.

I’m talking just generally. I’d prefer a team of 95% our players so they can play together and follow a similar style to how we (try to) play so they can go straight into first grade at any notice

They always drop back with instructions and requests.

Souths would have been told what to do.

but i'm assuming it's up to the ISC clubs whether to follow those requests, correct?

for example, if Kevvie says i want Oates to play in the backrow, the Magpies can still play him on the wing if the choose, correct?

Be extremely gutsy and you’d be getting a phone call tonight and maybe no players next week.

Kevvie communicates position and minutes if he’s a forward or coming back from injury.

Marion Seve couldn't get a game so Brisbane moved him and Ofahengaue to Souths Logan

Yep, Broncos took all the Broncos away.

in that case maybe Kevvie has abandoned the backrow move for Oates.

seems a bit strange though since Oates apparently trained all pre-season there, seems a bit early to abandon it before an ISC game has even been played
