Head over to Cowboys forums. They are 99% certain the Dearden deal is all but done. They provide no sources or links to anything, but apparently blokes in the know over there have said its a green light on Dearden and to start looking at the team being built around him.
Firstly, people that support the cowboys are cross eyed and can’t read.

secondly, if it’s the case then shit.

I am starting to doubt his ability though so maybe we could get a piece back?
This is all hypothetical (atm)

Yeah I’m not much fussed on him. Never seen him do anything that screams - I’m the superstar half of the future... I suspect at best he is a serviceable NrL level halfback.

So if we lost him, the only grief it would cause, is that we’d have to go looking for a new halfback and seemingly we are terrible at that / unwilling to do so...

If the Cows were however prepared to release Drinkwater for instance though in exchange, you’d probably have to start rubbing your chin and saying hmmmm, especially as it would mean Dearden is leaving anyway...

I don’t get it, has dearden got a handshake deal with the cowboys or something? What team just asks for a release unless there is a deal in place for the following year?
It’s an attempt to sweeten any proposed contract by using any money they have free after Morgan retires to pay him this season as well. It doesn’t mean Dearden invited it, with Morgan retiring they are desperate & are probably sounding out a whole host of players.

So assuming Dearden has agreed to head to the Cowboys (which I doubt) how about we do a trade like this:

Dearden to Cowboys
Drinkwater to us

Walsh to Warriors
Turner to us

Clifford to Knights

Lot of moving parts to work through though. But works in all clubs favours

Im tired of it. I feel the same way towards Dearden as i did towards Fifita when he kept saying he wanted to be a Bronco, but for some unknown reason would not re-sign a contract.

Start planning around Dearden not being here.
Remember, Smokin joe said it would get worse before it gets better.

Exactly, I don’t mind drinkwater but he is Swiss cheese in defence, so I guess he’ll fit right in at the broncos. he does have a crack though, which I like.

Dearden definitely isn’t worth getting into a bidding war over he looks more of a complimentary type half, definitely not the hyped one we’ve been hearing about. He’s definitely a player who needed Qcup and 1910 alluded to that. We need a little general out there and he is not that. We also suck at scouting those.

I don’t blame him at all, he has been jerked around and Kevvie is still questioning publicly if he’s the best halfback at the club, I would be wanting more certainty before signing anything too.

Kevvies constantly maintained publicly that Dearden is the future of this club

Although saying (or at least implying) that he need time to develop properly... which is not a bad thing IMO

Kevvie is well within his rights to question Deardens ability as he has not yet proven a thing.
As Foordy said, Kevvie has also stated the Broncos want to keep Dearden and that he is the future of the club.
How much more certainty do you need?

I'd put the house on him leaving for the Cows, i hope im wrong, but it feels very much like the Fifita situation, just less publicity around the insane amounts of money being offered.

But then doesn’t develop him properly

I was starting to think I was the only one. Dearden just looks like a plodder to me and I could never understand what all the hype was about after watching him play. Sam Walker on the other hand is like Nathan Cleary, he just screams 'future superstar'.

Piss him off and use those few hundred grand towards buying an actual, proper halfback like Reynolds.

I heard from fairly reliable sources that the reason Dearden was dropped from starting the year was because he was talking to the Cowboys. The word was that he is leaning towards signing with them, but hadn't yet. This info was a couple of weeks back.

It's a shame that Kevvie wavered from his disciplined stance to be honest.

Knowing what I know now about his managed training due to previous injuries, I wouldn't touch Reynolds, we'd be stuck with him and would be unable to even medically retire him)

And Dearden is within his rights to go elsewhere if he’s being jerked around.

I have not read this, what type of injuries?
