Wouldn't mind if Su'a comes back but Dobbo is adding a bit of sensationalism as usual. If Su'a stayed with us 2 years ago for "fruit" and played like he has at Souths including the Origin callup we would have to upgrade him to keep him anyway so its not like he would not have got an increase.

Same with Moses, shock horror 26 year old halfback with 150+ games costs more than 22 year old halfback with 70 games...

There are Cowboy fans on their forum fuming that they might be paying 300k a season.
Half of them seem to think he is the second coming of Alfie, the other half tell the first half to watch any game he has been in for the past year and a half and you will see he isn't worth the risk.
 
so if the reports are true ... then the Cowboys will be paying $1.7 million a year for a halves pairing of:

6. Dearden
7. Townsend

They've probably done what any NRL fan who doesn't know anything about a potential signing would do, gone to youtube and had a look at his QLD Cup highlights

That would make no sense whatsoever - why would you offer a player $1million a season when no other club is anywhere near that.

The only reason for offering a player that amount of money is if it takes that amount of money to get him. A million a season would be at least double what the nearest bidder would be offering.

It's like Ben Hunt's $1.25 million deal at the Dragons.. Why on earth did they table an offer like that when no other club would surely have been offering him anything close to that?

The best player right now who is even rmeotely available across the league is Adams Reynolds.

The difference between him and the 2nd best available half available is daylight...

Go all in, pay overs, give him the best 3rd party deals in the clubs history...

He doesnt want to move his family from Sydney.....money fucking talks....

Ever single club needs a game controlling half who is also a career 80% kicker. He alone would push us into the top 8 every season he is here simply because no other club has him.

And if we miss out, get DD to pull all his magical strings to bring Munster here on the same coin we should be offering Reynolds.

Im sick to fucking death of being the leagues pounded puppy. Start throwing our considerable money penis out of our pants and show it to the league.

GI retired on medical grounds.......HE IS STILL PLAYING...!!!!

If Souths can play the league for the dumb ***** they are....then lets do it ourselves....

Mitchell Moses has a player option for next season but he is free on the Open market, he is quite a bit younger then Reynolds sure he is probably a little worse overall but he isn't one big hit away from retirement and exactly the type of player we need.

Easily a better option in my view.

...again, thats fine, contracts are meaningless in the league now....as we saw with GI being sacrificed by his club so they can retain guys they didnt want to lose...

We know, we ALL know, what we desperately need, **** contracts for the piece of shit they are, and approach the best in every position we need who evn has a 1% chance of joining...

And to be frank ANY player is a big hit away from losing their NRL career...Reynolds does not have a mortgage on that....

Well said but in the case of GI, Souths didn't medically retire him. He retired and chose to forego his hefty salary only to walk into a very cushy $300,000 job at Souths.

The NRL then told them that $300,000 is coming out of the cap. However it would have been less than half his NRL salary and he can still clearly play the game, he just needed to be managed.

Same with Burgess who would have still been able to play but he was going to face some time on the sidelines to get back and Souths convinced him to retire.

On his podcast, Gus told the story about how for years he tried to convince Sam McKendry to retire after the doctors had botched his knee reconstruction. Sam kept playing on and he'd immediately tear it and Gus pleaded with him to retire so he could pay out his deal and it wouldn't count on the cap but Sam would just keep trying to play.

Moses is not too far away from Reynolds as a Half overall, he's slightly better than Reynolds in one or two aspects, but Reynolds is definitely the vastly superior pure game manager and that's REALLY what we need, so it probably makes him more valuable to us than Moses would be.

If you check out the kicking splits at Parra you can actually see just how much Dylan Brown has grown as a kicker and game manager and that really has taken the pressure of Moses to be that type of player. For Parra that works well, but for us who have no creative Fullback and no creative or controlling Dummy Half, we just need the best game manager possible and that is definitely still Reynolds.

That's honestly the stupidest shit I've seen this week.

What is the relevance of what we could have paid for Moses 4 years ago?

So what, let's say we got him cheaper 4 years ago, probably on a 4 year deal, then lets say he plays as well for us as he did at Parra and what, Dobbo is telling us he isn't still going to want huge upgrade to re-sign with us? Does he not understand how NRL player negotiations work?

You may have got the benefit of his services for 4 years, but it's still going to cost you big money to retain him for next year because just like right now, other clubs will be sniffing and looking to splash the cash too to bring him back to Sydney.

Not that their numbers are worth even the data it took to transmit them, but if that were hypothetically true then Reynolds is a lot more viable for that sort of cash.

You could have Dearden and Reynolds for probably a fraction over a million bucks which is what we'd free up by dumping Milford alone.
