I would be using that exact same scenario to convince players to stay for unders.

"You can be one of the best in your position but if we pay you a fortune, you'll suffer by having poorer team-mates. We're recruiting for long term success, not to pay mercinaries, we hope you'll be part of that".
I’d take 17 shit players who try their heart out and love the club over whatever the **** we have now. Offer 25 blokes from the Q Cup 110k a year and give five first graders a bit more and as long as they don’t pack it in when the going gets tough then I’d be happy.

If he wants to I guess. I don't think he is anywhere near as good as a lot of people think he is, but he might just need to have some time to develop
The expectations haven’t been set by him, we need to get out of this mindset where every player has be a superstar, I think he can be a handy player for us.

Does no one rate Niu? He seems to have copped a lot of flak because of last season & failing to live up to the ridiculous hype & expectations put on him by the media - something out of his control. I think he’s had a pretty good year & shown a lot of improvement, his defence needs a lot of work, but it’s not an easy position to defend and he’s essentially in his first season. Heck, Staggs can’t even defend and he’s apparently a must keep. I would re-sign Niu over Staggs, much cheaper & more versatile.
Niu is a keeper but he is a work in progress. He'd benefit from a ISC season in his projected position but if we were out of finals calculations altogether we might use him again. He showed flashes of brilliance and balance. There was a touch of the way Renoulf seemed to glide in a few of his open field excursions.

I rate Niu quite highly but you can't have rookies everywhere. I just think he's two seasons away still.

Badel says that we aren't the one driving the Lodge transfer issue this time ... he says that it is "understood" a rival club has contacted Lodge's management to discuss a possible transfer away from us.

he says that we're not even aware of the identity of this rival club
Probably for the best, just means we won’t get speculation about player swaps that won’t happen and we will just release him and pay for him to play elsewhere

I've never particularly rated him tbh. I'm probably one of the biggest advocates on here for us not having a team of superstars, but I just don't think he is close to being ready to play NRL. Physically, he isn't strong enough yet to play in the centers and he got manhandled a lot at fullback last year. We have thrown him in way too early, we seem to be averse to letting these kids develop in ISC because we are scared of losing them.

Last year he wasn’t ready, physically or mentally, particularly coming into that side & being touted as the saviour at fullback. I don’t think his physicality has been his problem this year, it’s his decision making that has let him down. He should be up & down, like most players his age, dropping down to qcup for a few weeks and back to nrl for a few weeks is how it’s supposed to happen. I would like to think he has escaped some of the media attention with the more high profile players off contract and that will allow him to develop without the threat of leaving for promises of game time and more money.

Fuckwit baldy on 360 querying as to whether broncos are pushing 5/8 on Staggs to try and get him to sign rather than Staggs wanting to be a 6... clearly he wants to be a 6 to get the money that comes with a spine position.

Balding knobhead also forgetting that it was the Fox Sports fuckwits reporting that Titans offered the same thing several weeks earlier

I wouldn't be tempted to pay Staggs huge money. The truth is peoples passion for Staggs or any other player will suddenly wane if we start winning. We already have a talented roster and although we were wooden spooners last year we will start winning again and then nobody will want change, well sure, they might want tweaks next year but in reality we have every position covered. Winning will come.

The Karmichael Hunt interview with Matty John’s is good. I want Karmichael in the team. He loves the broncos and wants to come back and that passion would be good for our team
