Sweet, cut his contract in half or **** him off.
I keep thinking about our situation and these kids asking for big contracts after giving us our first spoon and im rapidly moving into the "burn it all down and start from scratch" mentality.
With the state of the club, and our performance on field, i would love it if the powers that be put a clause into play of zero tolerance for misbehaving.
When you are winning a ton of games, its far easier to turn a blind eye to off field drama, but to be losing more than you are winning, and players are still getting in strife, its time to put some measures in place to protect the club.

I also wonder if the reason the Titans pulled out now is because of this latest news.

If you are Staggs and you got caught doing whatever that report is saying you did, you're rushing to HQ and putting the ink on the paper

He is suppose to be working hard to get right to come back and play, not getting shit faced

What was the verdict on that street fight he was involved in a while ago?

The problem I have is the club is saying everything's been put on hold waiting for a guy who has a spotty off field image, questionable defence, and little in the way of poster-boy value, to quit dithering and sign a contract.

I don't see him as a future captain, just a bread and butter centre who might be good enough to play for the other side during the Origin period. Sure we want him, but at a price and I don't think he's the guy we're planning to build the club around.

That guy is Tom Dearden, but right this second we don't even know if he's good enough to make the run on team.

Enough, already.
I agreed with you right up until the last line. Sounds too Yiddishly Yankee for Australia.

he didn't have anything to answer for from a legal point of view but was fined and warned by the NRL..

It's right about now the Broncos could really do with the shrewd and savvy operator who can't start work with them for another eight (8) days.

Good timing for us really. Bring the number at the front of the offer down by 1 or 2 and tell him to take it or leave it.

Whilst just about every young bloke makes mistakes, we need smart blokes with their heads screwed on. The sort of bloke where stupid mistakes are the exception, not morons who just keep doing the same stupid shit.

If true **** him off. End of. Sick of these entitled brats.

What any successful club would do is say, alright lets look at the three key areas of the field and build around our guns.

For the Broncos, it should be this way:

Backs: Staggs, Coates and Farnworth - build around these guys
Forwards: Bullemor, Riki, Haas, Piakura - build around these guys
Halves: No one, maybe Dearden but he hasn't set the world on fire and this is the key issue - currently we have lost / botched Walsh, Simpkin, Walker - Our next 10 years could have built around those three blokes and two of them we had.

So for the halves, you are hoping Dearden, Paix, Cobbo, that young under 18s hooker EXCEED expectations as opposed to the above three who you hoped lived up to expectations, that's even if Dearden stays. None of these guys are currently ready, so you need stop gaps / experienced opportunistic signings. Our club is going to struggle as long as our spine continues to be Isaako, Croft, Turpin. This isn't because these blokes can't be serviceable, it is because they won't be a top 8 spine.
Croft, Isaako, Dearden and Turps very nearly combined to beat Penrith the other night and a bit better treatment (eyesight?)from the referee and we may have won so that tells me have the cattle NOW to be winners.

I don't think you've given Croft and Dearden enough time to work up a combination. They had a game together last year and held Melbourne down for the first half before Melbourne blew us off the park in the second half. They then were split again and a fortnight later re-paired. They had two more games together and in both held the team together for more than a half and were competitive.

If our forwards stay angry and we get an even share of the luck Croft and Dearden can steer us around especially if given a chance to work together. Nobody is coming to save us this year, no Reynolds or other superstar. We should just stay the course, at least until round 12 or so.

Yep, let him go. If it’s a beat up it doesn’t matter, he shouldn’t be out drinking whilst rehabbing. Surely JYY is a poster child for this at the club? He’s brought the club into disrepute too many times at this point. The culture of the club sucks, but if there’s an active effort to instil a better culture and these blokes keep fucking up then it’s no longer on the club to baby sit the dumb pricks.

The problem is (and this is not a comment on keeping him or not) though that for young blokes like Staggs, if you cut him free, one of the top clubs, likely Souths, will sign him up and so there is no benefit to the club who lets him go other than kudos for having standards but now cop the fall out when he and his better team play you in the future.

Nah **** that. These blokes are losers on and off the field. If we lose with good blokes I’d be much happier than I have been after losing every week and being in the news for doing something stupid off the field every week.

In saying that the NRL needs to step in and say nah, we don’t want you. Go be average in rugby Union
