Croft, Isaako, Dearden and Turps very nearly combined to beat Penrith the other night and a bit better treatment (eyesight?)from the referee and we may have won so that tells me have the cattle NOW to be winners.

I don't think you've given Croft and Dearden enough time to work up a combination. They had a game together last year and held Melbourne down for the first half before Melbourne blew us off the park in the second half. They then were split again and a fortnight later re-paired. They had two more games together and in both held the team together for more than a half and were competitive.

If our forwards stay angry and we get an even share of the luck Croft and Dearden can steer us around especially if given a chance to work together. Nobody is coming to save us this year, no Reynolds or other superstar. We should just stay the course, at least until round 12 or so.

I am not arguing any of those points but these guys almost played for 80, almost won a game, almost insert something here. That there is one of the points, everyone in the NRL can play, not everyone can be a winner. Almost isn't good enough at this level and yes, the refs do constantly screw it up and the spine were all good to ok last week but despite a completely dominant forward performance and really good game from Croft, still fell short.

I am not writing these guys off and I have been a defender of Croft and he may come good but this current spine will not win regularly, that's the point.

Nah **** that. These blokes are losers on and off the field. If we lose with good blokes I’d be much happier than I have been after losing every week and being in the news for doing something stupid off the field every week.

That's the point I'm making really. I don't really care if we keep Staggs or not, to me Coates is the only one I want to keep regardless of all else. However, if the club is going to make the stand, they need the support of league management which they won't get. Low and behold, Staggs will turn up at Souths or the Roosters on a base wage of course and they just get stronger.

Well he's one of our few players post Fifita who can find the line. You can't undervalue that. But, at this stage, you wouldn't put him on par with Latrell Mitchell, Ryan Papenhuyzen or Nathan Cleary. There's your price point.

And hopefully we replace him with good people and the culture of the club strengthens everything else on the field. They’re weak hearted losers and the club is suffering from it. If the Roosters or south’s want to sign dick heads that embarrass them constantly then their culture will suffer too

The problem is (and this is not a comment on keeping him or not) though that for young blokes like Staggs, if you cut him free, one of the top clubs, likely Souths, will sign him up and so there is no benefit to the club who lets him go other than kudos for having standards but now cop the fall out when he and his better team play you in the future.

That is the sad reality of it. The upside is that once we start pissing this guys off, we can start to find those good quality players who train hard and represent who we were daily and keep their noses clean. Herbie comes to mind with how well he trained over with his family without someone over his shoulder checking up on him.

Here is an interesting point though, you could pull the offer and give it to Gagai and have change left over to top up Coates, that would be good business in my opinion. Then you have a clear pathway for Dearden in the halves and bring in Reynolds/SJ and overall, you cut a seeming problem child plus get better balance into your team.

Well, I know it's your point but I don't think it's a proven fact. You may have to revisit this claim that they cannot win regularly.

This club SHOULD be ahead of just about everyone else right now for the Reynolds, Moses (and a lesser extent Townsends) of this World and instead, made public our stance that those players dont matter UNTIL Staggs decides to stop fucking with the club, the board and us supporters and please please pretty please cant you just re-sign with us....its good optics etc...

Does anyone else feel we have our priorities in the right order?

we have reportedly had discussions with Reynolds manager. and i wouldn't be surprised if we have been in discussions with others as well. Capewell is reportedly one, but given what Dobbo said yesterday, Su'A could be another.
