Speaking of highly rated juniors, I heard there is this gun 5/8 playing for Souths. Might be worth a look before he gets snapped up by another club. I'd hate to loose him on the potential I can see. A. Milford, hope that the boys in R&R can make a deal happen.
I like it.

True. If you know a way to predict better decisions that always work out you should let the club know otherwise it's called hindsight😁

Sure; but I don’t think you need a crystal ball to see $600k for Flegler is an unnecessary risk, or that an injured centre with off field issues and can’t defend may not be worth $700k, or to see that a promising 2nd rower shouldn’t be prioritised over an equally promising fullback.

There may be some legs to the theory that they prefer Cobbo though.

if Piakura signed elsewhere this place would be full of blow ups how we let him walk.
Not to mention with glenn unlikely to be playing here next year there is a spot on the bench you would think next year with riki moving into the starting 13

He will have had this season in isc you would think which is what everyone has been asking our younger players to do.

Flegler was signed before the rules changed and off the back of a terrific debut season so yeah , hindsight.
Staggs hasn't signed yet and I dare say if Piakura signed elsewhere this place would be full of blow ups how we let him walk.
I would be tempted to blow up about losing Piakura only because we barely have any second rowers at the club in the first place.

Riki is young, TPJ is a little bit makeshift but may make the move permanently, Glenn is likely retired next year... that's pretty much it

Seriously. We didnt let him walk. He was offered an amount we could not match.
If Walsh had stayed how would it improve our position.
We would be 400k down in our cap on a kid who hasn't played a game.
That’s what we did with Piakura, who plays in a position that isn’t so important.

So now Cobbo is the next best thing hey, gee I'm getting over it..
When will we be able to poach a junior that a club like the Rosters or Storm develop? Oh...
I think it's time we get Milford to grow a beard and long hair. We will call him Spillford and he will be the next greatest thing to come out of the Broncos development.
Hopefully he will pop up in Titans, Bulldogs, Knights, Cowboys or Bulldogs colours in 2022, or we might be able to organise a trade this year. Apparently he can play half or fullback, is one of the best kickers to come through the system and is also an extremely disciplined trainer.
Get writing Badel!
I seen an article referring to him as “broncos latrell “ 😂😂😂 just like fleg is the next webcke ...Greg Eden the pommy billy slater.... riki the next sbw ....no wonder these guys get big heads

There's no easy ways back mate, even the Titans who spent all sorts of money and basically bought their team. The culture there is still garbage, they got pasted last week by a Manly side who themselves had been bog and I don't buy into it all being because one player made his comeback for Manly.
I doubt the Titans will be that poor again. It wasn't just TBitch's return either that made it all happen. A lot of it came from the previous week's win which was a belter if you're a Manly fan. DCE led that resurgence and he was again good last game. TBitch certainly had a fantastic return but Manly have been belted before with him in the team. The Titans tried to coast 🙄😂

I've said it before but we should not be re-signing anyone on big money until we have at least 2 quality spine players signed up. I would be just about okay with Staggs on 400k and Coates on maybe 350k. If they want more let them walk. They won't make the difference in the big games.

Look at what the bulldogs have done. Signed Cotic and Allan to medium size deals, and it's made **** all difference because the spine is useless. And what will Addo-Carr change? Not much is my guess. Burton is the game changer there, but even he is unproven at this level.

I think Kevvie has it backwards. We should sign or re-sign no one until either SJ or Arey is in the bag. Maybe even Moses. We can't take another chance on unproven/potential. Pay them top tier money and watch them improve everyone around them.

After that see what's left for Staggs or Coates. Not enough? See ya later.

I agree with your post but just want to say that cotric is on a reported $600k which is close to what we’ve apparently offered Stagg and Stagg is a superior player imo. Burton won’t be wasted money either - the kid is a gun. Easily their best signing.

We don't have the luxury of paying overs for Staggs. 500 is overs in my view. Let staggs go and keep Coates. Oates and Coates on the wing, Isaako and Farnworth in the Centres would be the way I'd go. Cobbo, Copley and Capewell, Tass as backup next year. Use the money to look to get a quality fullback, half and hooker. It's not that hard to work out.

I would go all out for Grant to at least have to make Melbourne pay more for him. Granville on the cheap not a bad option either for the squad. Halfback is hard. Reynolds won't come and is the only player that totally solves the half back option. K Hunt may solve the problem who knows. Maloney for a season? Foran for a season? Halfback depth across NRL is shallow. Moses is another option but his links to the manager Moses not what we need. Johnson not the game manager we need either. We just don't have great options at 7 so a short term option to assist croft and Dearden might be the best plan.

A quality 1 and 9 is where I'd be putting the money. Put the staggs and Milford money to grant and try and do what titans did with fifita. That is the play in my view. Drinkwater is the other play. Risking it all on Staggs playing 6 is not the way I'd go. Does he having kicking game?

The halfback role can range from basic through to complex and when I say complex I mean having total control of the team. That being the case we can get a halfback to do the most basic of jobs. That would be feed the scrums and distribute the ball and nothing else. Now that we have Levi we get an extra option for a BASIC halfback. I mean he passes well, makes his tackles and can feed a scrum. He doesn't have to be a kicker as well, not for your most basic of halfbacks.

I'm hoping we don't need to go looking outside for halves and we can develop a forward based strategy that is boring, simple and effective but with the concomitant limitations. We won't win a premiership this way but we could get back to top eight position with a rudimentary plan and average/basic playmakers in the halves.

I won't be surprised if we are happy with Croft by the seasons end. I think he's maturing later and we can stick with him until he proves himself, one way or the other.

I agree, I think we will be happy with Croft when the dust settles. I thought that after the Penrith match.
However I disagree with your assessment of a halfback. Put simply, you are a halfback or you are not. There is nothing in between full stop.

Just read that the Panthers want Lodge now, but we would have to pay half the frieght.
That’s a no deal from me however the club should be pushing for a straight swap with Capewell.

let's counter with Flegler... Lodge is ours they can **** right off, even if they are prepared to pay his whole contract (which they can't afford to do)

Different players. We need both.
