Well at least the side will have an extremely different look next season.

I'd like to think we're just keeping our cards a bit closer to our chest than we have in the past.Listening to Locky, the club don't sound convinced by Hynes, the croft experiment might have made us a bit gun shy about signing melbourne players.
Yeah I got that vibe as well. The difference is Storm didn't want Croft whereas they want to keep Hynes. That should be a tell-tale sign of the quality of the player. In saying that, the Storm's willingness to let Brenko Lee go without a fight is quite concerning.Listening to Locky, the club don't sound convinced by Hynes, the croft experiment might have made us a bit gun shy about signing melbourne players.
Maybe, but it was fairly obvious we were keen on Reynolds, from locky in particular he was on it early saying he would fix a lot of our issues.I'd like to think we're just keeping our cards a bit closer to our chest than we have in the past.
Which is fine, but we have another year to go between now and then, and that's IF Newcastle even let him get to the open market. He'll also be the most sought after signature on the market at that point.I think the club is viewing ponga as their big prize
We can do better, imoListening to Locky, the club don't sound convinced by Hynes, the croft experiment might have made us a bit gun shy about signing melbourne players.
Ponga is too cool for his own good imo, he just strikes me as someone who will float through his career, showing glimpses of his talent, but never becoming that dominant player he is capable of. I think sometimes talent can make people complacent.Which is fine, but we have another year to go between now and then, and that's IF Newcastle even let him get to the open market. Hynes has killed it now in like 3 different roles for Melbourne. Honestly, if we can't get a decent return out of that guy in one role or another then we honestly should be giving it away as a club and just handing back our licence.
Fck off LockyListening to Locky, the club don't sound convinced by Hynes, the croft experiment might have made us a bit gun shy about signing melbourne players.
So moving forward, it seems the locks for 22 and beyond are:
3. Farnworth
6. Staggs
7. Reynolds
8. Haas
12. Pangai Jr
Backs: 'Milford', Isaako, Tass, Lee (still not official), Walters
Props/Locks: Flegler, Bullemor, Kennedy, Robati, Carrigan, 'Glenn'
Second-Row: Riki, Piakura
Unknowns: Niu, Gamble, Turpin, Lodge, Palasia, Asiata
On death row: Croft, Milford, Oates, Lodge possibly, Coates (purely because he won't be at the club), Dearden, Kennar, Mead, Copley, Levi
So this means we likely need:
1.
2.
5.
9.
10 (Depending on Lodge and Carrigan and where they stay / fit in.)
11.
12. (Possibly depending what we do with Pangai)
13. (Depending what happens with Lodge and Carrigan)
14.
Plus a bit of depth
So, I think we are likely looking at:
1x fullback
2x backs (1 more centre perhaps and/or 1 or 2 wingers most likely)
1x hooker
1x prop
2x second-row
With these spots above, who should we be aiming for?
Who would be better and is available next year?We can do better, imo
If I’ve ever heard a good argument for signing a player, it is that Lockyer doesn’t think it’s a good idea.Listening to Locky, the club don't sound convinced by Hynes, the croft experiment might have made us a bit gun shy about signing melbourne players.
