Am I the only one that doesn’t think Hodgson is our saviour?
Yeah he is probably marginally better then Turpin but I don’t get the massive hype around him now..
Whilst I agree he did set the world on fire a couple of years ago, he hasn’t found that form in the last couple of years imo..
And we will most probably pay big bucks to get him here + it will probably cost us Lodge

It will cost us lodge because it’s being orchestrated by Moses, he’s just shifting chess pieces around. If we weren’t considering Hodgson he would probably make it difficult for us to move lodge on.

I've got no faith in the Broncos at all.
Need to burn the place to the ground and start from scratch before the second Brisbane team has the chance to kill us off.

So fucking jaded with this club right now.
Will always be a Bronco supporter but they are not making it easy.

Hodgson is not a good signing in my view.

Yeah I don't disagree by any means but there is so much smoke around this that it most likely is going to happen regardless. I don't really like it either BUT that said, we are so desperate that he is an upgrade on anything we have by far.

I’ve never really rated Hodgson, he can only pass in one direction.

also, we aren’t getting Dufty. He will be at bulldogs.

I hope we have learned our lesson's of failure bringing in so many younger guys. We have to let them develop. You dont get many like a Fifita or a Karmichael Hunt who come in and play to such a high standard every week. This rebuild will go nowhere if we dont get in some proven NRL players even if they are just solid ones. Our pack next year actually worries me if we dont bring in some experience, especially as we will probably lose Lodge.
We’re in a rebuild?

To me most of the rubble is still there…

Hodgson has many flaws but I don’t think anyone can watch tonight’s game and be rightfully confident with our current spine options + Reynolds going into next year.

Ideally we need a complete overhaul.

Isaako/Cobbo
Staggs/Gamble
Turpin

Either not ready, out of position, or rubbish. Reynolds will address our biggest problem but not our only problem.

it would be like replacing a dead battery in your car but still having 4 flat tires.

I still think Hynes offered the most out of what was available but that ship has sailed.

Hodgson is probably the best of a bad bunch, along with SJ and Dufty.

Too many makeshift flop players in this spine and wider team...
Isaako - not a specialist in any position
Turpin - make shift half because Macca was not performing
Flegler - dumb ass **** him off shit for brains
Gamble (6 or 7?) & (Kelly 6 or 7 ?) -have cracks but they are just plugs
Milford (fullback or 5/8) & Oates (wing or second row?? Who fucking knows) no more comments needed now but were consistently given right of passage

These guys are glorified fringies starting in our team over the past couple of months...

Target specialist players for specific positions.
Hodgson 9 , Dufty 1 and Johnson 7.. throw them a lowish offer to start negotiations they might stick.

Stop manufacturing players and start targeting required positions.

If he doesn't change their mind tonight nothing will.

We could have been beaten by 80, it makes no difference. He is a liability in defense. We just didn't ask enough questions tonight to see it.

If the Dragons sign him on the back of tonight's game, Matt Dufty can send a fraction of his contract to the players out there tonight from the Brisbane team.

Look I agree with all points about the players you listed except Flegler. Yeah he stinking it up and overdoing it right now, but like Carl Webb he will come good in time. He can play less minutes off the bench for mine until he sorts it out though. He is gaining more experience and hopefully learning this year due to Carrigan being injured.

If we were to bring in Johnson and/or Hodgson, yeah they may win more consistently and possibly challenge for or win a premiership inside 3 years. But at the same time we could end up right back here in 3 years as well.

Because by buying in more playmakers, it would actually make the forward pack the spine of the team. Because you can't build much long term success around Reynolds, Johnson or Hodgson. But you can around Carrigan and Hass. If the playmakers don't all live up to expectations, then what?

Make sure there is no other option. Farnworth and Staggs haven't fired a shot in anger in their preferred positions yet. Let's see how they both do first. It could go terribly wrong I won't deny that, but we haven't seen it yet at NRL level. So we don't know. We will by the offseason though hopefully either way. It would salvage something from this season.

I'm not in the camp of fullbacks have to defend like Tonie Carroll. Most fullbacks are pretty bad 1 on 1, but like halves if they can offer more in attack, you put up with it.

The season is a write off so we need to trial Staggs/Herbie/Cobbo and see if we've got a fullback in the building, otherwise we have to go to market if we don't want to be cellar dwellers again.

I agree with you but in my opinion I also think we need some short term success to get out of this rut and start attracting players here again. Obviously we would need to have succession plans in place but it would be easier to attract players sitting in the top 4 or 8 then currently where we are. Gives us less options and also we would have to pay higher to sway guys here.

Interesting....ive heard JAC is expecting to be the fullback next year when he moves up...?

And to be paid accordingly....

Least he tried again last night. Was trying to off load passes but nobody backed him up.

It’s a pretty telling thing in league, when players of Dufty and Lodges ability aren’t wanted by their clubs over long periods of times and no other club shows any serious interest.
