Not really, he was showing the same passiveness and lack of kicking in 2019 before he even played NRL.

Broncos upheaval and coaching changes didn't help but he was showing it in ISC.

Not kicking, passive, just shovelling it on- they all existed before he played for the Broncos.

Do you have on your own posts on speed dial?

He was really good on Saturday night for Mackay. Looked fast and had a hand in Mackay's first three tries and scored one- took on their general play kicking both long and short.

He was back to his 2018 ISC form at the back.

Edit- 14 runs, 140m, two try assists, one line break assist, five tackle breaks.

He was sharp.
was that at 6 ?

Tom was never a dud. We broke him somehow. Maybe we broke Coates as well.

How, is where the inquiry should head.
I'm afraid that's what happens when you try and bring in to many kids when you don't have that experience around them .

Kevvies presser yesterday was very concerning. He tried to be upbeat but it was clear he was pretty well bereft of ideas. Not good. Drinkwater has to be asked the question. What about Dehoiter from Wynnum at fullback. He knows Cobbo’s game and is tall and physical. We need someone Falou-like who can leave them spread eagled. Surely if the cows can get a good team of footballers can’t the broncos? Just a few random thoughts

Also that Milford became a dead weight who refused to be the playmaker he was bought to be. Croft suffered the same fate as Dearden, but he arrived from the Storm with a history of failure to live up to his pedigree.

Under Bennett, we backed ourselves to reforming the broken players, and generally, we succeeded. And if not, we moved them on. It appears we've lost that ability, instead turning talented youngsters into directionless basket cases lacking self confidence.

As Ikin says, our roster is good enough. Perhaps the players aren't the biggest problem, and perhaps the head coach isn't either.

I'm just eager to find out how we approach a bloke who is contracted to another club

It's all good saying we want him, we need him, etc.. but ugh, he's under contract with another club

You wouldnt be playing Hoeter at fullback unless you had nobody else.

Pretty easy. You sit down and have an informal chat with them and/or their management, which isnt against any rules. Once you have a hypothetical deal nutted out ( because you cant talk acutal contracts and numbers ), the player then asks for a release. Simple.

The clubs have a network of spies running communication backchannels.

It's a tough drop-in role. How long would you give him to master the position at this level: longer than Jamayne; longer than Tesi?
In a perfect world, every player should get at least a season to show improvement or at least improvement on the player they’re replacing. That applies to anyone coming in, especially rookies.

The only exception are players like Reynolds etc., as they’ve got proven runs on the board. Someone like that should really hit the ground running, but you realistically need to also understand that there will be hiccups along the way.

Yes but most clubs will want someone of equal value in exchange

Thats not usually the case with player releases. Drinkwater is on pretty decent money. He isnt playing and they have a number of good young players off contract they want to keep. If they can offload either all or a fair portion of his contract that gives them a bit more to play with to keep the likes of Nanai. The only situations really where clubs want players in exchange for early releases is when its a player they really want to keep.

He's their backup half, of course they really want to keep him.

There's no chance they just release him without getting something in exchange, they only just re-signed him last year.

They are looking to offload players. Thats pretty common knowledge because of the ridiculous contracts they have handed out to the likes of JT13, Townsend and Holmes. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and move on players you could do with keeping. As much as they would like to keep all their good players, he's on about $600k plus apparently, they arent going to want to carry a reserve on that much.

And they do get something in exchange for releasing him, they get more room in their cap.

They agree to offload Scott to us if we withdraw our million dollar bid for Jeremiah Nanai.
