Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

or you use what’s left of the year to build into next year.

would would make sense ... IF, there was a better (or at least close to it) halfback available on the market or the Dragons books.

since there's not (not even close). It's worth the risk for the Dragons to see if Flanagan can settle Hunt

I dunno, I just got hit with a sickening premonition of Hunt joining us mid season and taking us to the next level, easily making our way to the finals only for a Hunt error to lose it for us again.
This is my legitimate fear. He kooks it in the GF. Could you imagine.

Yeah he's been great the last month or so and seems to be getting better, and I would prefer the NRL stopped the late season transfers like Nofoaluma/TPJ. But if Hunt is gettable it's damn hard to say no.
I'll allow Hunt to play 14 at most. But I really don't want him stuffing up what we have built.

Watch this space. Roosters are sniffing around too. He only wants to be at a club who can win a premiership. My mail is he is prepared to change clubs immediately.....

does you mail suggest whether:

a) Hunt is prepared to play hooker (either just for the remainder of the season or remainder of his career)
b) We are interested in getting Hunt back
c) If the Dragons are wavering on their refusal to release Hunt.

Lol I hope wherever he goes, hefails miserably. I like Hunt as a player, but hate these mercenaries jumping ship mid season because they think they can play finals football. I would be pissed as a Dragons fan (no matter how good he is).

Roosters ain't winning anything this year. But I guess they do need a 7 now.

Like Sullivan perhaps, the guy they moved hunt to 9 for?

Its not about jumping ship - hes pissed with the club over the whole handling since pre season. He cant see the team progressing much roster wise in the next 2 years.
A) Yes, but only if grand final chance.
B) Cannot confirm.
C) Doust and 2 others are ok with him leaving as they will use the money to spark a recruitment drive and know team moral is on egg shells. Flanagan wants him to stay. The board and coach are at odds already.

I would happily take Hunt back but only to play 9 and he can Reynolds if he gets hurt.

Yeah, I'll cheer him on obviously but I hope he doesn't transfer until next season and the NRL puts an end to these finals run switches. I also think the timing is pretty shitty from his perspective. Wonder how Billy feels about it.

I am all for us taking him on as of right now for two reasons:
1. It obviously makes us better
2. If we get such a massive advantage out of this late season loan system as this, the NRL will then stop it immediately and that’s all I want, I hate this mercenary supporting system

I don't know if it will necessarily make us better. We don't know how that might stuff up combinations that we have built. People forget the the NRL is a team sport. Look at the Roosters, team full of superstars, not a superstar team.

Gotta remember he will be at least 300k salary for the remainder of the season + any release payments if he moves. Then there will be the NRL auditor having to approve future contract value to be at least the same or close to what hes on now PA for the next season. If the dragons board are anything to go by - they will probably request a 500k release payment to piss another team off and make it hard by wanting player swap. He still has a valid contract.

Haha that's what I was thinking. If we get him and win the comp it's the last time it'll happen.
