Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

He got lucky as well tbf. He's got cars from the club and a salary others at his age who hadnt done anything in first grade never got anywhere near getting. Its why i feel despite him getting unders the last 2 years its levelled itself out with him.

The more i think about it, i was all in on Tino but i've gone off the idea now. If Payne leaves, i'd actually still raid superleague. Their forwards who play regularly generally are workhorses who step up over here and i think we could replace Payne with both Matty Lees from St Helens and Mikolaj Oledzki from Leeds. I think both are a step above the likes of Jensen and Lees especially i feel is better than Flegler and we would probably get them both for not a lot more than Payne is going to get. It would probably make our pack a more rounded option than relying so much on Carrigan and Haas.
I definitely see your point and it’s valid but anyone who knew anything about football and saw Haas even play a few minutes knew he was going to be special. I don’t think I’ve ever been so sure outside of KP and maybe Wlash

I think people could easily see he was special. They still have to fulfil it. The Coal Train was the same. There's been some really top notch kids that just never achieved what they could have.

It's something I've said before, you have to take a punt on potential but if you want to lock them down long term you are taking that risk and paying them for a period of their contracts where they aren't worth the money they are on.

to add on that, I do wonder how the Haas situation would have gone if we just gave him a shorter contract to begin with, outside the risk of us losing him, if he stayed he would have been on more money but probably less disgruntled about it.

Nolans contracts back then were some seriously poor shit.

It had to do with him changing managers. His new management & groups (SBW etc) just see the 💲

There is no way he wouldn't have gotten his family's approval before signing for 6 years & the amount it was for. Also the family saw 💰💲🤑

At the time it was great money for him, yes he turned out to be a great buy & we got him for a great price, but what if he turned out to be a player like Dave Taylor/Anthony Milford. So much potential but wasted & eating up out salary cap space.

Haas' manager's "doesn't feel like his contract reflects his performance" just reeks of the $BW and Nasser influence.
He's been peddling that line since last year... it's in relation to the 6yr deal he signed as an 18 yr old... except the issue is that we upgraded that deal to $800k last year.

He is the best prop in the comp, but not on the highest salary... that can come down to other players getting paid overs though.

So, we are losing Flegs and need to replace him next year. How about a 1 yr deal for Tino for next year with options to extend if Haas plays silly buggers.

If Haas stays, maybe we can't afford to keep him, but the upside for Tino is that although he has one yr on a lower wage, we are a premiership contender with the best middle forwards in the comp. If Haas doesn't sign, then we immediately extend Tino with Haas's money. Or if we have space in the cap for 2025, the we back end a 2 yr deal for Tino from 2024.

Not sure Tino needs to accept any kind of conditions such as 'maybe' we will extend if another of our players decides to move on if not we are not sure we can afford you and you might have to leave even though you rejected all those million + per year multi year offers 12 months ago.

Also, i don't get the impression Tino has given any indication at any time he is interested in being a Bronco. If anything with his Storm and Titans history he strikes me as anti-Bronco.

Be nice to at least win a finals game before promising premiership contenders in negotiations as well...

**** me mate, thought this was the thread where we lay down our dreams and desires? Let me spell it out for you, in our pipe dreams we have a conundrum where Haas is signed until 2025 and Tino could be available next yr. No one is saying he would come here, this was just some spit balling on how we might actually be able to have both.

PS. Have you seen the ladder recently?

Oh in that case sure, Tino will sign for 1 year until we sort out Haas.
