there really isn't a lot of quality coming off contract for 2024 is there.

move to lock up our players asap.

make a play for Robson (although reports say he isn't far from re-signing with the Cowboys)

although Walker is currently over-rated, i wouldn't mind making a reasonable offer for him as a Reynolds succession plan

Walker would be great, they fucked up by not signing him as a kid...two young halves could be a bit worrying, but they could also create a dynasty like the Panthers.

Crawley has linked Herbie to the Roosters.

in his section about Herbie wanting to play fullback, says he can't see that happening because of Walsh and Cobbo ... then says that there is a "sneaky whisper" linking Herbie. says he won't get fullback there, but would fix there problem at left centre

what a complete load of crap from Crawley ... if Herbie leaves us it will be for a massive offer that he can't turn down ... or because he has been guaranteed the fullback position

If we miss the finals again, I wouldn't be counting on Herbie to re-sign.

He wants to leave us to go and play fullback...at a club where they already have two fullbacks...to play left centre...because the Roosters need a left centre...because that's fullback. Crawley has become a bit of a meme.

Well after missing out on Haas, Munster, Cobbo & the Golden State Warriors, the Roosters have a war chest…

I'd say Sualli will move into that centre spot pretty soon so Herbie would be thrown on the wing.
Hate the Roosters but a centre pairing of Herbie and Manu with Tedesco and Sualli would be very strong coming out of trouble.

Herbie should be our number 1 priority at the club to resign.

You have no idea what Crawley has heard, and given he is better connected than any of us, your abuse is as usual just abrasively ignorant. All signs from interviews around his last contract suggest Herbie is liable to leave for more money or a preferred position. But we know, even at centre, his position is under threat from Deine Mariner so the club might feel secure in not raising its bid. You don't have any special knowledge on this so the rumour from Crawley is no more than he's presented it: a whisper.

If you have inside information then by all means unleash your trademark abuse, but until then try keeping your hand out of your pants.

more money ... check ✅
preferred position ... check ✅

hmmm, maybe you should actually read the post before trying a gotcha moment ... you would have been far more successful

You mean more money at the Roosters, a club who couldn’t afford to register Crichton’s contract until recently because salary cap issues suddenly disappeared due to…off-season I guess?

And his preferred position is…the position he’s currently playing?

So he’d be going for likely less money to play the position he’s wanting to not play?

I mean @Foordy isn’t pulling this assertion from nowhere.

Also, if he wants more money to play his preferred position, there’s literally a club just up the road from where he currently lives who can blow everyone out of the water on both accounts.

So, neither money nor preferred position work in this scenario do they?

As usual you didn't comprehend what you read and blasted the author. All Crawley said is there's a "whisper" (the very lowest grade of rumour, barely worth taking seriously) linking Herbie to the Roosters. He didn't mention anything about why he might be leaving but there's been no suggestion it would be about anything other than a more attractive offer. If you need that explained to you, please stop commenting on player movements. There is no basis for you accusing Crawley of posting "crap" other than because it's your kneejerk reaction to every article you dutifully repost. Just like you reyeroll every post that calls you out.

Give it a rest.

Yeah, it's the 101 of why players switch clubs. The rumour is of a grade that barely rates a mention, and is presented as such. @Foordy is trying to create drama where none exists.

Wouldn’t this be misleading by Crawley if it’s barely worth a mention?

I imagine Herbie would be wanted by almost every single club and we know for a fact from media reports this year that the Phins are very interested and Herbie seemed to have at least a little interest in them. So why mention the Roosters if it is barely worth a mention? Isn’t that contradictory?

Also why mention one of the clubs that literally are in the opposite position of the reasons provided for why Herbie might leave?

Isn’t a journalist’s responsibility to fact check claims and not make up stories or find them on fan forums?

Also, @Foordy has every right to say what he has here, a forum is for discussion and this is a legitimate assertion to discuss.

No, he said there's a "whisper." Doesn't need any fact checking. It's already more than a whisper now since we're talking about it.

Like I said, even as a rumour it's too light to take seriously other than to file away in your memory for future reference. It's in the context of a much larger article on all the players up for contract.

There would be lots of clubs asking after Herbie right now. You'd hope.
