100% agree... total bullshit that a "journalist" would come out and basically claim we are rorting the cap, because a player signed with us on supposedly cheaper money. Absolutely no mention of him training with us for the last 1-2 years and seeing our facilities, coaching staff, etc. first hand. All because it's a bit suss. Also the ridiculous notion that if he were to get $1.5m he's basically paid off his debt in 1 contract... does he not have to pay for food, housing, his child, etc.If they can manage their roster and stay under the cap with their recruitments/ recruitment strategy (signing massive name players like Cronk and SBW, along with blokes like Teddy) then good for them. I'm just sick and tired of hearing about how blatantly over the cap we are when clubs like the Roosters, Cows, and Sharks go around spending big bickies at will with stacked rosters.
I have said previously that the opportunity offered by the broncos to lodge gives him a great opportunity to restart his career. Taking money out of the equation, he'll likely be in our 17 every week, in a high quality team, coaching staff, facilities and potential to go deep into the finals. If he stays on the straight and narrow it will be a great advertisement of him to potential teams.
Compare that to going to knights, where he doesn't know the facilities, coaching staff, culture (outside of being a young team who will be aiming for 4 straight wooden spoons), etc.
The real question will be whether we can retain him for 2019 onwards.
