Broncos Vs Cowboys - Team list, pre & post game discussion

We were pretty terrible both halves IMO. If we play like that against any side in the top 10 we will get rolled quite significantly. I don't think we really won last night's game, more we just didn't lose it.

I guess we should be happy we got a solid 40 mins but despite the win it's hard to get excited. Can't remember seeing such a scrapy game. We took the foot off the pedal. F&A is going to be important and we didn't go on with the job which isn't good enough. If we miss out on a home semi by F&A we'll look back and rue this game. We'd want to produce a much better performance next week against Cronulla.

Don't think it'll come down to F & A unless we're competing with the Panthers. Or there is another draw.

Re: Kemp, I think he copped some knees from that hopeless rednut grub Watt when he scored that try and was a bit tentative for the rest of the night. I think Kemp is twice the loss that Boyd will hopefully be.

Kemp has hurt his ribs and I think I heard he has to have x-rays It was a result of the Watts knees in the try..He also was concussed by Watts slamming his head into the ground at another time in the game.

Watts hasn't changed at all when he was 17 at the state titles for cricket he was a fark wit who needed to grow up and it seems things haven't changed for him.

According to Nine Bennett is breathing fire and promises a bulk of changes next week.

Our worst area is the forwards at the moment, so I guess he'll bring a few in for Sims/Clinton and maybe Parker?

Bulk changes? Does that mean we get to see Perry again? [icon_lol1.

For mine, it's no so much any individual, it's the TEAM which is not gelling. And again IMO, it wasn't either half - we played crap the entire game.

IMO, apart from which, get Boyd out of centre (yes - he's a good player and a damn fine winger), Stagg out of the backs FOREVER, get the forwards to see a motivational psychologist and put Manihera or Hoffman in the centres with Hodges.

And (Hammo.. :P ) what's the point of making the 8 when you go out after the first match, which we will unless we seriously LIFT as a TEAM starting next week.

Watts slammed his head into the ground twice actualy. What a tosser.

Funny you should mention Perry, if this side had half the heart that Perry showed then we would have no problem winning games.

Perry, for what he lacks in genuine NRL ability has what this side lacks, that is, belief in their ability and a desire to acheive.

Not for one second am I an advocate of Perry returning to the top 17 but the top 17 could learn from Perry.
That is what it means to represent OUR club.

Corey Parker looks like he is going through the motions, he looks stale and in need of motivation, which is not a good sign no matter who you are working for.

David Taylor is another who is struggling in D. No matter how threatening he looks in attack this game is built around defence and he is sadly lacking.

If I was an opposing coach I would simply tell my players to make him work hard from marker and set him up for an inside play.

Its easy metres and a really good chance to score from close range. If the D does manage to cover for him then you simply strip the Opposong D of numbers on the next play and score in the corner.
This game is built around defence, it is no wonder WB is breaking out in boils when he sees' the attitude to D that this side displays.

This side is at least 1 -2 years away from being a premiership contender, unless injuries beset Melbourne and Manly.
Injuries aside the best we can do is finish third.
That is the realty of this current Broncos side.

I love the doomsdayers coming out already.

Guys, we're just under two months out from the finals. We're getting players back fit and refreshed after the rep season. It's going to take a while for them to gel. The improvement this week was visible after our scrappy performance last week. If we keep building week by week, and keep getting the two points no matter what, this IS a team that can win the comp.

Maybe Mick, but they need to start turning it around NOW. Can't keep having "baby steps" improvements. We need MASSIVE improvement or the Sharks and even Dragons will FLOG us.

They were definitely rubbish in the 2nd half, they couldn't defend the line or anything.

It is a shame WB is being hard on Sammy cos I thought he was super duper, he and Hunt were the stand outs, and Lockyers one on one defence was excellent (not hard compared to the rest of them).

So so lucky the Cowboys were about as talented as my d-grade touch side...hmm, maybe not even that...ash graham dropping the ball cold, ha ha ha.

If Clinton, Thaiday, Hunt, Lockyer, Wallace, Moon, Taylor, or Eastwood get dropped ( i know Lockyer and Hunt definately wont ) then Bennett was watching a different game than I was.

I'd drop Ennis, he has turned into a real grub, is inconsistant and gives away very stupid penalties. Hannant, did a couple of good runs but was mostly very quiet like the last 10 or so weeks in bronco colours. Stagg, is seriously out of form, killed a few plays when running out wide, for a former centre he really sucks at using his wingers. Manihera, only because Hodges is back, and i'd only drop him to the bench kicking Robinson off it.

My line up for the Sharks would be

1 - Hunt
2 - Kemp
3 - Moon
4 - Hodges
5 - Boyd
6 - Lockyer
7 - Wallace
8 - Thaiday
9 - Marsh
10 - Clinton
11 - Parker ( with a warning he could be gone next )
12 - Eastwood
13 - Carroll

14 - Taylor
15 - Manihera
16 - Kenny
17 - Sims

Bennetts line up will probably look like

1 - Hunt
2 - Kemp
3 - Boyd
4 - Hodges
5 - Robinson
6 - Lockyer
7 - Wallace
8 - Hannant
9 - Ennis
10 - Sims
11 - Thaiday
12 - Stagg
13 - Carroll

14 - Kenny
15 - Perry
16 - Ah Mau
17 - Eastwood

Drop Ennis? I must have been watching a different game to you. His kicking was superb as were some of his moves around the ruck. It's true that they went out of their way to niggle him and he responds but I'll accept that stuff so long as he keeps sparking our forwards.

Bennett won't drop Manihera for Robinson.

I wouldn't drop Ennis totally, I would put him on the bench with Marsh to start. I reckon Ennis would be really good coming on after around 20 minutes against tired marker defence with Marsh just doing the good distribution work and hard-hitting early on in the match.

Im happy to see WB angry. It actually shows me he still has passion for the team, something i havent heard for a while. Hopefully this will give the team the kick in the pants they need to wake up.

We can't afford to drop Ennis. He is critical tom our team make-up in season 08.

Just bide your time, like me, and he will leave soon enough.
