Broncos withdraw offer for Hunt

he has won a premiership, 3 origins and dominated at international level with that jersey, but anyway lets forget that, lockyer is an average 5/8 for sure.

Well if you're going by those KPIs, wouldn't Fittler be a better 5/8th?

And yet you have still failed to name a five-eighth who was better than Lockyer post-1990.

Didn't lewis play until '92 :)

I would take Lockyer over post 1990 Lewis tbh.[/quote:1usixgig]

Take him where? The same place most others on this forum want to?

Mate your on a Broncos forum trying to bash Lockyer are you stupid???

I'm not trying to bash him. I've already said he's an awesome player. It's just that some people on this forum can't seem to stand it when anything bad is said about a Broncos player, wether it be justified or not

die hard fans you shouldn't expect anything less.

Yeah mate, you're probably right. Maybe it's a good thing :)

What you said isn't justified mate, Lockyer is brilliant at 5/8. Whether or not he has been the best since 1990, that's a different debate (IMO he is, if you don't think so...you're wrong) but he is a brilliant 5/8 nonetheless.

Each year he is getting better as well. I think he'll win us another title before he retires

Isnt this a Karmichael Hunt Topic...
Get over Lockyer, losing Hunt is going to be a big blow, but everybodys talking about how great Lockyer is.

How so? By going to about 4 grand finals and failing in 3 and the only one he won was a claytons premiership which the dogs should of won?
Lockyer has won 4 permierships, will be the most capped aussie in history and... anyway i cbf, lockyer is better than what fitler was.

That's a big call. Lockyer is an awesome player, but I think we was a much better fullback than a 5/8th. Just because Lockyer is a great player, doesn't mean he's a great 5/8th
I never said he was an average 5/8th, I just questioned the "best 5/8th since the 80s" call.

Geez some of you guys on here can't take a subjective view of things. Most of you seem like you wish you had the chance to be in the toilets at Alhambra Lounge with the team

No you didn't, You said he wasn't a great 5/8, if lockyer isn't a great 5/8 then there has never been a great 5/8 and every 5/8 in the history of the game has never been anything better than average.
You obviously have no clue about league, even the most one eyed opposition supporter/lockyer hater would agree that lockyer is one of the best 5/8's to play the game arguably ever.

Yeah because rorting the salary cap in excess of 2 million dollars means you should still keep all your points, your actually the first Lebanese person I have ever heard make this statement by the way......

At 5/8th?

Which was what your original stats were based on. Based on premierships won, SOO series won and test matches won in the 5/8th position, Fittler would have a better record than Lockyer. Does this mean he's a better 5/8th?

So by making a gf and losing, you are doing worse than not even making the gf at all, are you? Oh ok, and the one they did win, they shouldn't have won. If you talk to Storm fans, I'm sure they'd say the same about the Broncos in '06.

Darren Lockyer is a better five-eighth then Brad Fittler.

There is nothing more to it. Darren Lockyer is the greatest five-eighth since 1990. Deal with it.

Post-1991 maybe. Lewis was still bloody good in the 1991 Origin series.

As for Fittler? Pffft.

I challenge you to go back through his career and find where he's snatched victory for his team when it's been under the pump. He was a CLASSIC of going missing in action when the going got tough, albeit a great champion when his team was on top.

The only thing Fittler had greater than Lockyer was his defence, but ****, I could probably tackle better than Locky. That's not the point.

Also should be noted much of Fittler's career, particularly in rep, was played at centre and lock because he couldn't displace Laurie Daley from five-eighth.

Nice arguments to back that up

Finally some good arguments. I can't disagree with you on any of that. My point was that based on broncospwn arguments, Fittler should be considered a better 5/8th. Whether that is the case in reality, is debatable, and you put up some very good arguments why this isn't the case. At least your views are based on fact, not just "Lockyer is the bestest, man".
