Can be an unknown, we can sign a few or upgrade the ones coming through.

Should Hunt leave, i don't know if we really need to sign another fullback, we have Hoffman and Beale and even Hodges. I think we should look at bolstering our forward depth and re-sign Dave Taylor.

The biggest thing for me is that it seems like he's angling to have a holiday then come back. No Hunt, once you go you are gone. We will move forward and build for the future, one without you in it.

But that's just being stubborn for the sake of pride. If he wants to come back in 2 years and we're in a position to accommodate him then it would be stupid to say "sorry, you left once so you can't come back".

Obviously if we unearth/sign a new star and there's no room for him then tough, but better he takes a break than stay in Brisbane in misery for the next 2 years. Misery and good football don't often go hand in hand.

When do the Broncos not accomodate former players? The point is, if he wants to go fine, but just because in the past we have been able to accomodate some players, it will not be the case for all of them. Fullback is a crucial position, and Brisbane will not tread water for 12-24 months just cause one 22yo can't make up his mind about whether its harder being a highprofile footballer, or a guy working a 40hr 9-5 job. (slightly exaggerated but you get my point)

I took that to mean that once he leaves we should close the door, which I disagree with. Like I said, if there's no room when he wants to come back then that's bad luck for him. But to completely rule out a comeback, just because he left once, is not a smart thing to do IMO. If you were just saying that we shouldn't wait around for him then I agree. I'm not sure where former players came into it.

Fact is, if these figures are correct on what we offered him, what other club is going to pay bigger bucks for him? Nearly every team in the comp has a very established, talented fullback. There are a few clubs such as Tigers, Raiders etc who will actually have that sort of money that would want to but I doubt Hunt would go there just for the cash.

He'll sign on, I'm sure of it.

It seems pretty clear that he's not interested in other NRL clubs. It's rugby in France and Japan that he's looking at.

Coxy I agree that this situation is his own fault, but when you're angry at the world around you that can be a hard pattern to break. If time away helps him do that then I don't have a problem with it [icon_shru

Unlike some in this thread, I'd put Hodges straight to fullback next year if Hunt left. Imagine how damaging his running game could be with less tackling to do.

Game 2 he was named on the bench but started at fullback.
Game 3 he was named at fullback and started at fullback.
