http://www.leaguehq.com.au/news/news/hu ... 00640.htmlBrisbane Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen admits hopes are fading in the club's bid to retain star fullback Karmichael Hunt.
The Queensland Origin star and the front office at Red Hill have come to a firm impasse in negotiations for a new deal once Hunt's expires at the end of the season. The fullback's manager, David Riolo, has rejected a purported $1.2 million offer over three years which would make him the second-highest paid player behind Darren Lockyer.
Cullen has since withdrawn the offer to Hunt and said today he now held little hope of having the hard-running custodian in Broncos colours next season.
Cullen denied he was playing "hardball" with Hunt but said the club needed to move on or risk not securing a player to replace the fullback should he move to French or Japanese rugby. There are currently no rival NRL offers on the table.
A couple of interesting things hee that have been bolded.
so it looks like Hunt won't be playing in the NRL next year. if he doies it will possibly be less than what the Broncos offered. eusa_think
I didn't realise that the offer was actually rejected first. eusa_think
