Building towards the future.

If Milford transitions to the 6 next year, it would be unlikely that he will move back to fullback. Especially if he performs well.
Just shows how much Hoff is a **** who is breaking the balls of our club.

Imagine how much better Hunt would be going if he wasn't **** blocked by Lollace for the last 2 years.

The more things change ..the more they stay the same.

What are you guys whinging about ... Hoffman will be gone next year... He knows the only position he will get will be wing.

FTR, I'm happy for him to stay if he is prepared to play wing and give it everything he has ... He is a gun winger. If not release him at seasons end. I'll help him pack.

I am not really concerned about Milford or Barba in the 6 TBH. Both are highly talented and will adapt to the position well. I think Milford will adapt faster and better to the 6 but am happy for either to play there next season.

Haven't seen much of Milford in the 6, though Ricky Stuart is the worst coach in the NRL so what would his selection policy really say about a particular player's best position?

Would love to say Milford will slot straight into the 6 and we'll win a premiership (so does Hook). Geez it looks electric on paper - Hunt, Barba, Milford. There's some points in those 3! I'd say we're still a good 2-3 seasons off that and at least 1 more key organiser in the spine to have a real threat on the title.

And all the Milford's in the world can't prevent or change the inherently weak mentality of a team that concedes a 22-0 lead in 20 minutes against the worst team in the competition, falling apart at the seams under a drug cloud and internal coup, who'd pretty much put the cue in the rack after the first try of the game. And we've done that against a similarily weak Parra outfit this year as well.

The Rabbitohs had the same problem 2-3 years ago. They've got a great coach, great leaders and a culture of success and built self-belief about winning. But they used to find a way to lose games from unloseable positions or revert to the "old-Souths" mentality. You could see it when we almost pulled their pants down at Suncorp but they overcame.

Hook has been a steady influence (as much flak as he cops here) and must take a large chunk of the credit for Ben Hunt's careful development and meteoric rise this season, the nursing of Macca and Glenn into leaders and the transition from those awful Henjak years.

But he was always a caretaker. As is White. They've steadied the ship post Lockyer, but there needs to be someone with some more vision to harden this team into a professional unit.

I think Milford in the 6 will allow Barba to slim down and get his speed and damaging running game back.

We will likely have to bulk Milford up slightly to play in the front line (same as we had to with Locky when he moved to 6) but with Corvo around we will be able to do it with muscle rather than fat.

That's pretty much where I'm with Hoffman.

I was hopeful that he'd be able to at least fill a slot this year in the 6, for a short period. I was always under the assumption that it was only going to be temporary. The longer it goes on, the more frustrated I get.

That said...I think he's an excellent winger. It's his true position. The quicker he comes to accept that, the better footballer he will be. I wouldn't mind him realising that while he played wing for us.

I'm whining about the games we've wasted having him in the halves when we could've been developing someone else, now next season there is no competition for 5/8, it's Milfs and that's it.

I'm whining about Peter Lollace hindering Ben Hunt's development for the last 2 years.

Bullshit.

The NYC halves will be a year older and won't be (knock on wood) dealing with the same issues they've had to this year.

This isn't Rugby League Live 2 where the only way to improve players is to play them...

True, though that could have been resolved somewhat if the coach in question had half a brain and just moved Wallace to 5/8th and let Hunt play his natural game.

Folks, before you get too carried away, I believe the intention of this thread is to discuss the future and not the past. I'm sure you can post your musings elsewhere but I believe the OP primarily wants to discuss about the club moving forward and not complain about the past.

Let's respect those wishes.

i'll fill in another position for this team

1. Barba
2. Vidot
3. Copley
4.
5. Hoffman (he can piss off if he isn't happy with it)
6. Milford
7. Hunt (c)
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10.
11. Oates
12.
13. Gillett

14.
15.
16.
17.

Something I wouldn't mind at all. Whoever turns out to be the best out of Milf and Barba takes fb, the other takes centre. That's providing we develop some gun half in the mean time, not that we'd know with Hofflol wasting the team away/wasting the development of a real 6.

Yeah I like the look of A Taylor he looks strong for a little bloke great pass, good kicking game. I also really like Kodi but he is a lot like Milford and Barba more electrifying and elusive then setup and structured.

I think Kodi, Milf and Barba in the same team we could turn into the warriors and be fantastic and score 50 one week and get trashed the next. We need stable halves so those guys can do what they do best make something out off a half chance / break or offload.

At least next year Hook has no excuses Hoffman is in the 5 jersey or he leaves the club.

At last someone understands Kodi is a runner and not a playmaker. Not sure where he fits into the Broncos actually unless you shed Barba which would not worry me

i get what you mean but the warriors are bloody fantastic to watch, and we would have less troubles winning away then they do, i think all you need is one stable controller of the game which hunt has the potential to become.

i also think we really need whoever we put at 6 to have a good long kicking game because thats the one area that hunt isnt up to scratch, whether barba or milford posess this on a regular basis is yet to be seen but i hope we dont completely ignore an actual good young half in the hope of creating one out of two good fullbacks.

at some stage when jayden is of age him and kodi could wind up forming a lethal combination and i really hope its not for another club.

well if milford wasnt coming then he would probably make the ideal 6 being that barba is more of a passer/organiser lately, but as it stands hunt loves to throw a dummy, milford loves to throw a dummy and nikorima loves to chip and chase to himself so our outside backs would probably not see all that much ball if he came into our current squad.

we seem to have alot of fullback / five eigths at the moment.
